What happenes to Zhunastu?

What happenes to Zhunastu?
Zhunastu Industries, you mean? Or the Zhunastu family?

No one knows. My personal theory is that Cleon III killed all his relatives (except one remote cousin who managed to escape and run far, far to spinwards ;)) and ruined the company.

Here's a (non-canonical) bit I added to the Traveller wiki article about Zhunastu Industries:

"The corporation continued to be an Imperial megacorporation until the demise of Cleon III. While the Zhunastu family didn't occupy the Imperial throne between 54 and 244, they continued to run the company. Cleon III's utter madness at running the Imperium also extended to the corporation, where he terrorized the board of directors and division heads alike.

By the time Cleon III was assassinated in 245 by Porfiria and the Moot, the corporation was in complete disarray. The various companies and divisions were closed, spun off, or bought up by other companies. By 265, Zhunastu Industries had ceased to exist."

If the descendants are who I think they are, it certainly explains the mustache hair. ;)

Well, if they were Canadians...they would have sold their assets to the Solomani and moved South by changing their name and living the good life... Name any Canadian family business dynasty and one finds the same pattern repeated time and time again that the business grows becomes prosperious then the children or the grandchildren sell it off to the highest bidder so that they can live the life luxury...without venturing too far into the political sphere (and I may have already)...I wonder how this would apply to the Imperium.

Yes, the Royal Family prevent the Megacorps from flying south...but how many small liners would be bought up by the more adventurous and arguabilty ruthless Solomani Corporate conglomerates under a variety of Shell Companies? Or does the Imperium offer a perfect business environment that it actually promotes long term cohesion due to its Vilani influences. For the Solomani don't seem to get the idea of huge Megacorp save those sponsored by the government...

I'm afraid I don't follow you. I made up the cousin who escaped to be the foundation of a Prester John type spacer legend about The Zhunasthu Emperor[*] who is rumored to have created a vast empire on the far side of Zhodani space. How much substance there is to the legend, if any, is anybody's guess.

Hans

[*] I had a completely finished JTAS article about legends of the spaceways ready to send off as soon as I'd given it one more checkover, when my computer crashed and I lost it through inadequate backup. :( ).
