Serrated Edge
This photo capture in 1110 is of one Senior Scout Gevaudan Cannagrrh, taken aboard the Highport of Kaets (
Gvurrdon 2338) shows the exiled Gvegh Vargr toting a serrated Sword. Though cited and fined for safety violations, the Senior Scout complained that there was no other way to carry such a Blade about the orbital platform. But this image shows the preference for serration in Swords, Big Knives, and Blades among the Gvegh from the Golden Age, into the Fifth Frontier War, and beyond. At TL-7 a tungsten carbide blade was tough enough to chop, stab or saw at foes. The Gvegh reported that an edge must match the Charisma of its wielder for maximum intimidation to break the morale of opponents.
Note the proud emblem of the
Dzen Aeng Kho (Society of Equals) on the Senior Scout's Duster-4 over the Mesh-6 armor worn. This was the peaceful, civilian Senior Scout Gevaudan Cannagrrh who was normally found in a bright orange Hazardous Environment Vaccsuit, the best civilian armor Credits could purchase.
We must then extrapolate that smaller versions of this serrated Sword might be carried by many Spacers, Corsairs, Merchants, and anyone aboard a ship that refuses to put holes in the interior and risk decompression. A serrated edge bites, tears, and manages to avoid becoming caught by draining blood through its serration. Some serrations are wide enough to catch and lock an opponent's edge and set up a weapon breaker maneuver. But alas, the Vargr are not sharing their methods unless it means Charisma.
