Warp Drives only operate out beyond the distance where the G-Field is less than 0.0001-G or out beyond 100 Earth Radii in the case of Earth. (400,000 miles). The Warp coils operate within that range, but they only produce power, the gravitational energy needed to produce the Warp envelope leaks away toward the gravitational mass that causes the interference with the warp engines. The energy by-product of the warp engines can be used to power the other ship’s systems even within that limit and can serve as a fusion power plant in a pinch.

** Tachyons can only exist beyond the 100 radii limit of Earth or in a gravitational field of 0.0001-G or less. When entering a gravitational field greater than this, tachyons decay into electromagnetic radiation of a radio frequency, and the signal may still be received, but to broadcast from a planet’s surface requires a relay satellite orbiting beyond the minimum distance where the G-Field is 0.0001-G or less.
