Various new "facilities"

Tellon

SOC-12
I was looking at several deck layouts and ideas popped into my head -- at least for what I was trying to do. On all of them I could have attached say a 7kl "Bot-room" for bot storage -- say janitorial bots, med bots, security bots, ect --

and so I thought I'd share with ya to see if ya folks had any comments on them ...

Ideas I've looked into :

Electronics facility (research, cybernetics, robotics, communications)
w/ Office, Conference room/Galley, Spare parts room, Equipment locker
vol: 567
wt: 210
pr: 5.24
pwr 3.025

*Thinking of making a larger spare parts room -- since one can *really* play here ... lol

Research Facility (Geology, Biology, Microbiology, Botany -- which attaches to the Hydroponics section of the ship)
w/ office, Conference room/Galley, Spare parts room, equipment locker
vol: 707
wt: 260
pr: 25.24
pwr: 4.0025

*The research can be whatever one needs -- since it contains 5x Lab

Fabrication-Testing Center (ye old machine shop where stuff can be made if need be)
office, Conference room/Galley, Spare parts room, equipment locker
vol: 867
wt: 610
pr 10.24
pwr: 5.0025

*I am thinking of adding a large "Ships Locker" to it -- with sections of alloy/hull replacement, wiring, conduit, flooring, etc, etc -- so the kl & wt would go up for something realistic.

Medical Facility (Waiting rooms, ICU, Surgery, Lo-berths, OBGYN, Dental)
Office, Conference room/Galley, Spare parts room, eqiuipment locker
Additional Medical Research room w/ Airlock (can be used for quarantine)
vol: 850
wt: 110.5
pr: 6.445
pwr: .02

*thinking of making the spare parts room larger -- since so much will be used over the long-haul.

School -- as it is computerized learning -- so has very few teachers needed
2 childrens play areas, office, Conference room/Galley, equipment locker, teachers lounge
vol: 623
wt: 44.4
pr: 1.003
pwer: .011

*note: The play area? .. think of an elementary school or play area in a McDonalds -- something for the lil kids to be occupied with.

---

Things I have just finished -- see below

Police Station -- (will give my space marines something to do .. lol)
obviously an armory, E-low-berths for holding criminals, "interrogation" rooms, a courtroom, offices, waiting room, an armored area for live-fire weapon testing, storage places to hold evidence, etc..

Restaurant --
Obviously a Room to seat folks, a kitchen/Galley, Waiting area, Foods storage, offices
*I am thinking cafeteria style for being on spacecraft*

Things I am still working on

Arboreteum/Community Garden -- A way to test/research new hydroponics ideas.
obviously open space, nutrients (LOTS), edible plants, maybe even have ponds with small fish/critters -- also hydroponics testing ...

I came up with this for a Police Station -- it's big enough to be realistic and to have 16 people per shift -- so 48 for all 3 shifts --

so for ship security/space marines -- I think it works ..

Jail -- office + 8 Lo-Berths, Eq locker
Impound -- 100 kl cargo hold, eq locker
Court -- Main room, Judges room, Jury room, 2x eq lockers
Analysis Lab -- Crime Lab, Office, spare parts room, eq locker
Lounge -- standard conference room w/ galley, spare parts space, eq locker
Ready Room -- big conference room for shift briefings
Offices -- 10 "extra offices" for people to use
Interrogation room -- nuff said .. lol
Entrance -- Standard waiting room
Armory -- Big Eq locker, office
Vac Suit room -- Big Eq locker, office
Chiefs Room -- Lg Stateroom (kinda like the ship CO's room)
Dispatch -- workspace to direct officers
Weapons Testing -- Large armored open space, spare parts, eq locker

*note: on the internal armor of the weapons testing room -- I dont have the vol/wt accounted for -- as people use different hulls for armor -- but I figure an AV or 30+ should be fine for standard "guns" and gauss items (not plasma or grenades)
-- I could have had say 2 sm staterooms for say 2 JAG lawyers, but I decided against it.
-- I also probably could have put a weightroom/excercise area to add on, so the marines keep in shape.

I made these 3 for fun -- but on a very large spacecraft ot station/highport -- they will be seen

Auditorium/Theater - Main seating area, Dressing rooms, Setup/EQ/Cargo
vol: 582
wt: 92 (due to all the equipment, stage setup stuff, etc)
pr: .92
pwr: .2095

*cramped seats x 200 (think of the ole High School Auditorium .. lol

Chapel - Seating area, Office, Eq locker
vol: 147
wt: 11
pr .204
pwr: .0025

*cramped seats x 40

Joe's Bar & Grill -- The Restaurant & attached Cantina
vol: 686
wt: 50
pr: 1.17
pwr: .012

*adequate seats x 85 in restaurant
*roomy seats x 15 in Bar (I figure space to move, a small dance floor, etc)

The restaurant still use freezers -- even with the fresh food from the hydroponics and community gardens -- the hydroponics section can feed 600, so there is plentiful food to be stored.

*I probably could be a real stinker and create space for fermentation, brewing and a "Micro-Brewery" feel so that fresh stuff can be served with the excess foodstuffs coming from the hydroponics labs.

Yes -- which is why some spaces are smaller that would be expected -- which is to be expected -- since were dealign with things to have on large ships or space stations; Thus, space is more of a concern.

*for space usage, cultural ideas are more taken from a Solomani standpoint -- so that Imperial or Darrian or K'Kree or Hiver or Darrians would build thier facilities a bit different due to thier cultural "standards"

So, I made sure to use the basis of any obvious things (such as the Crime-Lab in the police station) is the same size as a Lab+Airlock -- that we see in the rulebook; other things are off of say a small stateroom or lg stateroom -- thus using the weight, cost, and power consumption of these "related" spaces.

For instance the Restaurant -- using the size of several "Lg Stateroom sized spaces" for the seating area -- adding on spaces for the dishroom, freezers, office, etc .... And the bar -- same thing

-- so to answer your question --- Yes -- it takes into consideration the hallways and access areas for maintainace, garbage, etc, etc ...

When we create a Station of Space Facility -- like a Lab-ship or a Capital-ship of some sort -- that needs the 3x Comps --

we usually dont think of the 3 comps as Mainframes -- and thus perfect to fit into a "NOC"

THUS

Have the 3 Min Frames -- throw in several desktops (which are the same as the mainframe of 2 TL's earlier -- thus a TL 15 Desktop is equivlent of a TL 13 Mainframe, and so on...)

and so we will need an office -- maybe a conference room, a coffee station, a BIG spare parts and Equipment locker, several open worskstations, and a bit of extra space for the access (false floors for maintainance on the wiring), some space for the IT geeks to chat -- so a conference room

and thus -- we have a viable and realistic NOC. So, I am thinking maybe around 100 - 125 kl for space (just thinking of the top of my head)

These all sound like good modules for a modular cutter.

Was this your intention? Or were you thinking along different lines?

Different lines -- but yeah, I could see them being useful for good modules...

I use STL interstellar thinking -- thus -- for my long-term voyages and Space Stations/Highports -- I need something realistic to keep the people "happy" --

thus -- places to eat, enjoy a show, a place for my space marines to watch over a base or large ship/station, open spaces where people can enjoy themselves instead of being stuck in just thier staterooms .. lol

I'm gonna see about finishing a few more modules and put them up here for you guys to see ..

do any of ya have suggestions of what you'd like to see?

Here are 2 I figure will be seen; The Casino + the NOC

The Casino

The Casino has space for both sit down card tables, and stand up Craps/Roulette tables -- and space for 1-armed bandits -- so expect lots of gamblers, rogue, criminal types and plenty of security .. lol -- oh and dont forget the tourists.

The Casino here is JUST the gaming tables, machines -- so make sure you attach a restaurant/bar to it for the guests.

2 Lg rooms -- total seats 90 for the 15 card tables w. space for dealers + Pit crew.
1 Lg room (slots) -- seats 30
3 Offices for employees and an upstairs "security room" so cheaters can be watched
10 eq lockers, 5 spare parts lockers, 5 bot-locker (for the bots the casino uses)

vol: 1540
wt: 295.4
pr: 13.144 (hey, it's a casino -- LOTS of lights, bling-bling, ect .. lol
pwr: 2.0225 (all those lights make for a big electric bill .. lol)

--

the NOC

The ever present techie hangout -- the computer lab .. where gamers hang out and goof off playing games or just watching over the network -- The Admins and the "elves" are usually relaxed and carefree -- until a network issue occurs .. lol. So expect computer programmers, hackers and students doing homework enjoying themselves 24/7

the NOC is the room where the ships 3 Mainframes sit -- so thus, the NOC is the electrical heart of the ship/station. In the example I am using -- I will use TL 10 st comps for space -- so milage will vary due to TL and if your using Fiber optic version comps.

The main room includes space for the false-floor (wiring and network connections) -- office space, a conference room (seats 9), 9 workstations, desktops at all workstations, 2 spare parts lockers, 2 equip lockers and 1 bot locker

vol: 256
wt: 16.4 (the main weight is the mainframes and wiring)
pr: 3.2535
pwr: .9025

*note: since decktops are equivlent to mainframes of 2 TL's lower -- the Desktops here are considered to be TL 8 comps for power, workload, etc ... (handhelds are considered to be 4 TL's difference -- so a TL 15 handheld is equal to a TL 11 mainframe)
