Unique Worlds?

Jim, you've been watching to much Irwin Allen!

Saw a book in the "take it please" rack at the book store called "The Expedition". It's about an Earther survey mission to the planet they call "Darwin". Tripedal animals, liquid-vores, titantic colonies of single-celled organisms, and a concentration of sonar sense vice sight.

Has anyone else picked this up or used it in a campaign?

What if Irwin Allen met Marc Miller at Starbuck's?

- "The Beowulf Adventure" - Gravity reversal on board a far trader, the fat lady dies, and another mediocre song goes the way of the Macarena.

- "Lost In Jump Space" - Another reason why TL-9 robots will never be practical. Oh, the pain!

- "The Towering Conflagration" - The Moot is in session, no smoking within 100 meters.

Don't forget "Voyage to the Core of the Gas Giant"

"Voyage to the Core of the Gas Giant" - Featuring the Captain and crew of the IISS Coreview. Plot synopsis: Monster of the week causes the ship's compartment of the week to have the disaster of the week that kills the crewman of the week. (Neat flying sub, though!)

How about
'Raise the Empress Titania'

-A group of adventurers are hired to raise the crashed freighter from the bottom of a deep sea...
It is important they hurry and beat the Zhodani team also going for the treasure on board -
The purser's safe has the secret of the Star Trigger...Or maybe just a whole bunch of MCr...

:D

It's not a flying sub, it's an Animal class Safari Ship!!

This world is an artificial construct, it is a cylinder 8,000 miles in diameter by 12,000 miles long. This world is traveling at 99.99% of the speed of light and experiences a time dialation of 70.71:1. The cylinder is made out of bucky tubes and makes a complete revolution once every 88 minutes to produce "gravity" on its inner surface. The cylinder is hollow and is open at both ends with only 150 mile tall retaining walls to keep in the atmosphere. At the core of the cylinder along the spin axis is a fusion reactor composed of two parts: a powerful laser that ionizes the interstellar medium ahead of the world ship and superconducting field coils that create a powerful magnetic field that funnels in most of the ionized hydrogen ahead of the ship and confines it to a small area as the ions converge at a relative velocity of 99.99% of the speed of light. At such a velocity the hydrogen fuses producing gamma rays and helium exhaust which passes through the core of the cylinder and out the back end. The fusion core is sheafed inside and inner cylinder made of tungstein. The tungstein core absorbs the gamma rays and reradiates outward visible light to provide sun light. An outer cylinder surrounds that and somtimes interposes itself between the inner cylinder and the habitat surface to produce night, this occurs in a regular cycle of 25 1/2 hours, the amount of sunlight varying according to a 360 local day year. Since it is traveling near the speed of light each day here takes over 70 days in the rest of the OTU. Its position on the Traveller map also advances 1 hex every 3.26 years. The world travels in a straight line more or less. The Imperial Interstellar Scout Service might have to build a special ship to investigate it, depending on whether a starship emerges from jump space at its original velocity or not, its going to have to match velocities with the cylinder traveling at 99.99% of the speed of light. One idea is to build a staged vehicle, each stage accelerates the ship by a certain amount and is then discarded until finally all the stages are expended and the remaining starship (a scount courier) can go into jump space emerging 1 week later (or 70 weeks depending how you measure time) in the vicintity of the world ship.

This adventure has actually already been published: The Drenslaar Quest by J. Andrew Keith, companion to The Undersea Environment. :D

how about an Earth Size pure fresh transparent water world, no land, not even a core, just a hugh drop of water, with many types of life, living in it. bit and pieces of floating matter to live on. floating inside and on the surface. aquadic humans!!!...water is so pur it is considered refined fuel...that when the trouble starts....needs fleshing out

Tom,

Have you been reading your FASA Doctor Who adventures again? What you describe sounds a bit like Lords of Destiny.

As you forgot the megliomatic computer, however.

Good idea to bring Rama to Traveller but I think there ought be something darker than just an abandoned Ancients artifact. What about it being an artifact from one of the civilizations that date before the Ancients?

Hey - this is a good thread!!...ran off a copy..will add the good stuff to my collection of NUGGETS!!!!

Of course thats why we use this web site ...right guys???.....great resourse!!!

Actually this worldship is from a different galaxy. If it was from the Andromeda Galaxy M31, it would have travelled 2 million light years and 28,500 years would have passed on the worldship due to relativistic time dialation. I don't know what was in the Andromeda Galaxy 2 million years ago, something other than the Ancients perhaps.
