TRAVELLER Haiku

Thank you, Marquis Hopper!

Your signature, with echoes of Shakespearian iambic pentameter, stirred my creative juices. So I tried my hand at something a little different...

Three Little Black Books.
Characters, ships, worlds, patrons.
TRAVELLER is great!

I'm not trying to insult anyone's intelligence, but just for reminders...

Haiku is three lines, 5/7/5 syllables. No cheating!

And traditionally the only break is after the 1st or 2nd line in the form of a colon(
, ellipses(...) or a long dash(-).

There is also the tradition of a season, often more implied than specific (chill wind, snow, falling leaves, sprouting shoots, and so on), to set the tone.

But that said, modern Haiku, especially in English, is often more free form.

There are of course a couple Haiku threads haunting this board somewhere, worth the search if you've not read them.

Oops, I forgot, not bad DLO, I'll see if my muse whispers, though after the not Haiku she spoke to me the other night it could be a while. That rhyme if you are curious was a simple departure speach on launching once more into space...

Winds, and tide...

Stars to guide.

As I said, not Haiku, just the musings of an old Traveller

OK, not the best but the muse is quiet...

The light grows dimmer,

Travellers gather around:

Play the game again.

My wife came up with these, she is a sci-fi geek too!

Intrepid spaceman
And tentacled green monster-
He pulls his gun zap

Stars glitter brightly
When floating so peacefully -
Without a spacesuit

The empire is strong
Fearless soldiers uniting
Against the dread foe

Killroy was not here
And still they can never win
Mocks Ine Givar

A bad day on deck
Argument with the captain:
Drink your coffee juice!

Always without end
Built to last no questions asked -
Are the Villani

Spacemen from Terra
Jump out into the darkness
Find humans there too.

Free Trader Beowulf
Calling anyone, please help.
My ship is dying.

(obviously you have to say Beowulf rather quickly...)

Somebody stop me...

Warrant in her hand
Ditzie returns to Norris:
Hey! Look what I found!

Fulacin a front --
But with some ancient weapons
Poof go the Shivvas!

There are no seasons
on this ocean of deep night
which course do you plot?

Deep dark traders all
ethically challenged merchants
Traveller's essence?
