The Traveller Art Thread - Discussion

Riiiiight! Well, as Andrew said, it doesn't have anything resembling a diffuse texture, all the image files are for procedural texturing and won't even begin to work with Celestia, I'm afraid.

Sooo, to get textures to show in Celestia, I need too...

(Thanks Guys, I promise lots of pics
)

Well...What do you think...

I had to import, then export for it to work, and rename it (Celestia being picky I would imagine)

Hello all
I just wanted to mention I added my own humble attempts to the mix in the art thread. Mostly people pics, but I have a decent ship in there too. Will try to post more as time permits

I like the ship

Do you have deck plans for it?

Thanks

The squares are set at 2 squares equals 1 ton, and I think it's 1.5m per square. I found the key to the deckplans... here's what everything is:

400 Ton. 3 hardpoints. Jump-2, 2-G. 120 Tons Fuel. 96 Tons Cargo

Locations as follows:

UPPER DECK

1) Bridge Here are the flight controls, computer systems, and sensor stations. One main pilot station and two subordinate monitoring stations.
2) Crew Quarters Six staterooms, one for each member of the crew. The circle in the floor is a recessed airlock for emergency access outside. A ladder will extend to the ground when the airlock is in use if necessary. At the aft end of the crew area are two small rooms. These are the Ship's Lockers: general storage for crew equipment, weapons, vacc suits, and the like.
3) Passenger Lounge/Common area This is the open space where crew and passengers relax and take their meals. There is a large circular table in the center of the room.
4) Infirmary Medical facilities for the ship. There is an examination/operating couch, and supplies for treating all but the most critical injuries.
5) Galley An open area connected to the lounge, it houses the food stores and kitchen for the ship.
6) Passenger Cabin "Honeymoon Suite"
7) Passenger Cabin "Presidential Suite"
8) Pinnace This is Molly's shuttle. Access is gained via the Airlock at the aft end of the lounge by the spiral staircase. The large square in the center of the shuttle's cargo bay is a lift/airlock which gains access to Molly's cargo bay in the deck below.
9 & 10) This is the two-level engine room. Section 10 of the engine room is part of the lower deck, section 9, the upper although there is no access to 9 from the upper deck as the Shuttle area separates 9 from the rest of the deck. Generators, life support, and the engines are split up between the two levels and access from one to the other is granted by a hatch-ladder system.

LOWER DECK

11) Engine Access Entry to the engine room (10) is granted through this hallway. It is protected by iris valve doors on either end so it is effectively an airlock.
12) Cargo Bay Converted from the space holding luxury suites when the ship was a VIP transport. On the starboard side there is a spiral staircase that leads to the lounge area (3)
13) Cargo lift This is a flat elevator plate that leads to the cargo bay of the shuttle, allowing for quick transfers of larger cargos.
14) Loading ramp Basically the front door of the Molly McGee. This is the main airlock/cargo ramp.
15) Miscellaneous Ship Systems Water storage, air reserves, fuel and the like. The similar gray areas on either side of the lounge, cargo bay, and engine room access are this as well.

Hi Artists!

I've started a new game project called "Planetfall" and am looking for Traveller art.

I can't offer a lot of compensation, but I will offer what I can and you'll get in print. The game is set to come out early next year with a projected date of publicatuion by April 2006.

If interested, please check out this site:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Planetfall-TGUSFMWE/

And I'm an illustrator myself and have been published in several sci-fi magazines so I'll do everything I can to help you out.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi !

Working on a CG battleship model right now, I asked myself about the "correct" way to texture this thing.
What kind of color scheme military space vessels might have ?
Boring greyscale stuff ?
Metal plating look with reflections and specularity effects ?
Green/black/brown carmouflage patterns ?
Just black ?
Just white ?
Pink ?

What do You think ?

Results will be posted in the "Art only" thread soon

Regards,

Mert

There is alot of great artwork in this thread!

I would like to put some of it into my home game mechanic documentation.

Can those who have pictures that you don't mind me using, send me a PM with a link to the pictures as well as the proper accreditation you would like listed?

best regards

Dalton

I too have no objections though I make no claims as to being in the same category as the others posting here. I also have examples on my website at www.skaran.net

If you want anything let me know as I have the uncompressed originals on my home machine.
