The Traveller Art Thread - Discussion

Cool! Good on him!Funnily enough it started as a hobby for me too. I started making levels for DOOM II and one thing led to another, now I do it for a living

I had a look at it but never got as far as getting anything in the game =(
My most productive period was with Half Life, but that was mainly player models rather than maps. I've toyed with the idea of doing a HL, Quake 2 or even Quake 3 Traveller conversion - nothing extravagant, just some Traveller themed player models for Grognards to duke it out in a deathmatch level. However, for all the work it would entail, I'm not sure how many people would really use it :(

I'm sorely SORELY tempted to create a loosely Traveller-based Battlefield 2 mod.

Very nice indeed. Something about military vehicles, tanks especially, is that they also end of cluttered with things bolted on to them. I can understand this not being done to a grav vehicle though.

Now if you've got time....
Very true about ground vehicles, but maybe grav vehicles should be thought of more like helicopters. Hanging extra gear on the outside would mess up their aerodynamics.

Yeah like choppers. But they too have a lot of junk on the outside too. Not as much as a tank but they are not as slick as a jet. Some ugly mini turrets like choppers etc. might make a Grav tank look a bit more real.

Wow! There are some gorgeous compositions in there. How much did your friend actually model and texture himself?

Crow
</font>[/QUOTE]I didn't model the figures, they come from DAZ Productions or their affiliates. Some are tweaked or re-textured as required. They are posed in Poser and then imported into Bryce.

All the vehicles and space craft are my own creation, usually built in Truespace and then textured in Bryce.

The Dlanian Rhapsody is definately a bit scary. I was hoping for more images of the other characters though, in addition to Dulinor.

Andrew,

Further up you will find additional stats and further below are some deckplans...

MegaLiner...I kinda like the sound of that one. Some of the particulars have been worked out this thread and laise with Jeff for more.

In terms of small craft, it has the capacity for berthing 10 yaughts in outside carrages. 25 Modular Carriers to act as Fuel Shuttles/Lifeboats. Standard 10 person lifeboats for each deck.

I believe, that I quoted something like 50 decks or so. It would contain everything that a modern seagoing cruiseliner does plus the added feature of incorporating the equiliant of 2 ports of call...that way on long haul journeys passengers need not feel that they ever need to leave the ship.

I know that BsG and Far-Trader have done some work on it you might PM them but I wouldn't mind your creative licence given the impressive work thus far.
