The New Future of the Reformation Coalition?

As you might have guessed, I’m quite a fan of the Reformation Coalition.

It’s the killing people and Taking Their Stuff in the name of Civilisation, and the Militant anti-Monarchy stance that appeals to me.

Anyway, it would seem that in the New New Era the RC don’t get to beat Solee, the Vampires, bring some civilisation back to the Wilds and, eventually, a couple of hundred years down the line, deal with the Regency as an equal (and then live happily ever after) that I’d like them to.

Which, you know, Evolve or Die, I’ve said it before, but I wouldn’t mind the RC having a cool place in TNNE. For old times sake.

And I think that place should be as enormously aggressive expansionist militant democracy advocates with the best ship crews in space.

They solve the problems with the F-tech leaders through application of RAM grenades and Star Hot Plasma* to their own leaders, then other stuff happens, but they are still hard thanks to all the raiding.

To balance the 4I, cause I actually liked that they didn’t approve of people who killed billions of sentients in a war over who got to stand on the balcony and wave.

*God I love that line

Errr. Okay.

I realy didn't understand your 4I comments on the other thread, but I think I get this.

FWIW: Who says the RC doesn't beat the Solee etc? And, the 4I is not the third. Certainly not the Imperium that killed all those people over succession issues.

The Star Vikings do have a part to play in the future of Charted Space.

I'd still like to see my Greek city-state analogy come to fruition. The common cultural heritage but disparate national characters of the worlds of the RC always reminded me of Greece just prior to the Persian Wars (490-479 B.C.) I could easily see them banding together to repel the Solean (Persian) juggernaut, only to slide into a stifling Pax Aubani like the Delian League. Then comes the secession and revolt of Oriflamme (Sparta) and her allies in a stellar Peloponnesian War. The RC's Civil War leaves the individual worlds too exhausted to fend off the Solomani or Fourth Imperium (serving as Macedon or Rome: take your pick.)

Well, everything has its ups and downs, Erik. As for Solee "beating" the RC...thats a term of perception & reality.<speaking as a resident Solee-o-phile>. Kinda hard as DN wrote it for that to happen. He made Solee a Strawman...
To which I disagree<bows>.

Hmmm. there is that to be said fer em, aye. Of course too bloody a revolution might leave some indelible political/social scars on the Coalition's pysche, don't ya think?

Well, as da boss <MJD> stated, the 4th I. isnae the the 3rd I. And I think ya'll like how and waht the Rc evolves into. And what happens to yer Star Hot Plasma* "Vikings"..<putting two and two together from yer MJD collected notes>.
the stuff of legends, Erik. remember that!

Good call!

I'd be pissed if it went that way in published materials, but some elements there to be knicked.

I think Aubaine getting its way is supposed to lead to the creation of a large but loose federation, rather than the small but highly integrated lition 'flamme would prefer.

But the vast experience with knocking over governments and with bootstrap operations!

Hrrrmph. I still think the bit about the Star Vikings packing up an leaving read like

'And then Hamas and Fatah packed up and left Palestine...'

I like the RC as well and can see the Greek link. Well written it could be very enjoyable.

I'm not fond of the star viking's leaving permanently and disappearing... I figure they leave, come back, leave come back over several multi-year periods. They also become a pivotal defense feature. The vikings launch operations against whomever intrudes on their territories.

The RC falling to the solleeeeeeee well it might be the rule but a big mistake on the part of the solleee. Their better working it into a client state.

Their are big holes in the canon. They just need to be found so a battleship can drive in.
