Does anyone know who designed the beowulf? I was curious, it's such a nice little design.

BTW, I was looking at a pic of the defiant and I saw a few similarities, i wonder if anyone working for STDS9 ever played traveller...

Depends what you mean by "designed" I guess.

The stats are probably Marc or one of the other First Travellers.

The first pictures I can recall were done by W. H. Keith in CT era.

The deckplan in Snapshot was very crude, but it served for "bug are loose and eating the pax" and "pirates are boarding, to arms" and of course "this is a hijack, take me to Ruie" scenarios.

The deckplan in SOM was by Rob Caswell.

I always found it odd that the Beowulf didn't have deckplans in S7. In fact I don't recall it being published anywhere except Snapshot and SOM, yet it must have been. Wasn't it?

Oh, and there was the RAFM miniature, largely influenced by the W. H. Keith art but I'm not sure who would have sculpted it.

The Beo/Hero didn't get any coverage between Snapshot and SOpM that I'm aware of, though the Marava appeared in S7, the Alexandria in AdvClassShips2 (FASA), and an unnamed Type A in Starships & Spacecraft (JG). FASA also did a Zhodani Free Trader in the same set.

The Alexandria and JG designs are quite useable (and the right size), and the Alex is another Rob Caswell design.

I just like the look of the classic beowulf. I was wondering who created it.
