In D&D there's a mechanic for taking damage from heat, but I don't recall that in Traveller, specifically for CT or T5.

Am I wrong on that? Can someone point me in a direction to look it up?

The Desert Environment by William H. Keith Jr. (Gamelords) has rules for Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke plus many other "dangers in the desert".

Thanks. I'm actually thinking more along the lines of radiation from a smelter or even a distant star. But I think I have Desert Environment somewhere with my LBBs.

MgT has quite a nice radiation and burn mechanism. The radiation system requires you decide what protection different suits/armor and ships provide.

CE has a version of this subsystem.

Oh cool, do you remember what page? Is it in the basic rules or a sup?

The T5.09 rules has a chart on p196, p689. The latter also has a table of insulation. But this seems to be oriented to combat time damage (per minute of exposure) rather than the longer term and subtler effects of environmental exposures.

Yeah, I've been trying to finish off a module first draft, and I'm marginally dismayed that there's little on the topic. I have two T5 disks, but I'm not sure I have 5.09

I'll have to look. Thanks for the reply.
