In TA1, on p40 there is a summary of panic and area fire effects (top left). It looks to me like the column headers for Save Made and Save Failed are the wrong way round, as at the moment you are better off failing your save!
Also, I am curious about Area fire, as it seems to be missing the base TN for a hit on an area. I'd go with 18, using normal ranged attack bonus, with normal autofire, range and situation modifiers.
