T4 eratta

Since I didn't get into the CT setting I've bought a copy of Imperium Games Marc Miller's traveller, which I understand is very similar to CT.

Anyway, I've heard it has a massive eratta list. (25 pages?!Wow, who edited it, Andy Hackard?) I'm trying to find the T4 eratta list but can't. Does anyone know where it is?

You, know, you really shouldn't have a go at Andrew Hackard in your first post, it may make people think of someone else...

The actual errata for the core rules isn't all that massive, you can find a copy:

http://traveller.mu.org/errata/

(I've just noticed that the errata list for the first edition of GT is just as long if not longer ;) )

Of course, that's in part because SJG actually publishes errata. By the standards of Imperium Games, T4 itself was well-proofed (for comparison, errata for First Survey would amount to 'throw out the book. Replace all pages as follows')

Imperium Games published errata while it was able to, but the world wide web was in its infancy then (at least here in the UK - home use of the internet was still very limited) so getting hold of it could be a bit of a problem.

I'll see your First Survey, and raise with Behind the Claw ;)

Well, any product with andy hackard anywhere near it will have lots of errata, that's a given.

But on the subject of T4, I really just want it to be able to translate material from CT products to other systems. As is I really don't know how to read the UPP for a character, so I need a guidbook to tell me what the entires in the UPP mean to I can covert them to other systems.

I must say that out of the T4 products I've gotten arsenal rocks, supply catalogue is Ok and that anomilies adventure pack is a bust...

I understand that the T4 main book has a load of errata and a lot of suggestions, it's too damn bad that IG died before they could do a revised version.

T4's core rulebook isn't all that bad -- in general. The text in particular is mainly copy from previous versions of Traveller, and in that respect it is a good distillation and consolidation of basic Traveller assumptions.

The main problems (errata-grade material) would be with a missing table or two, and the task system. Aisde from that, the core book seems ok. But then, it's been years since I've used my copy.

A revised version is in the making. T4 is getting an overhaul. Its task system is fixed, the ship design system is being polished (I'd say streamlined) and expanded to include a small-craft design system, the rules (and chargen) are being generalized and broadened a bit, some new referee tools are being added, the mainworld and solar system generation rules are being updated, the Sunbane sector listings are being corrected, and multiple settings are being considered for sourcebooks -- including some which significantly bend the basic assumptions of Traveller.

Far Future Enterprise currently calls it "Traveller5".

You have clearly never seen First Survey. First Survey is an entire book filled with UWPs -- all of which are incorrect (due to a computer error, two digits in the UWP are always the same).

And by the way, Antichrist, drop the topic of Andrew Hackard. This board really does not need griping about people who have absolutely nothing to do with this board. Mostly, you're marking yourself as 'person who is likely to be banned'.

Definately drop the personal attacks. This is the one and only warning you will get from me on this.

I'm nipping over to T5 to see what's been done with the task system. IMHO an upgraded T4 is all that was needed for T5 along with the numerous improvements/options that have been proposed from various sources.

Yep, the government type and the law level. Easy enough to re-roll the law level as needed - annoying, but doable.

I've found the player's version to still be useful - it only gives the physical stats anyway so I can make the rest up to suit MTU.
