T20 armour volume conundrum...

Scarecrow

Am I right in understanding that T20 accounts for armour in tonnage?

How do you reflect that in deckplans?

Say, for example, you have a 500 ton ship with 100 tons of armour. Do you just deckplan a 400 ton ship with a thicker outer hull and say it's armoured?

That's one way to do it, and it's how I usually do so.

Another would be to only armour certain areas of the ship, and represent the armour tonnage by blacked out squares (or half squares), while using normal hull thickness elsewhere.

Since I figure the outer hull volume, and then place stuff inside it to fit, I ignore armor and fuel while deck-planning. Whatever is left is, by definition, armor or fuel.

Yes, I count "cubes" of 1/4 Td... pretty religiously.
