Sylean Class BB

One parsec range would make it a coastal battleship, or let's call it a littoral battleship.

Both good suggestions, but we really don't have any good choices in historical nomenclature to borrow for the design, do we? The predreadnought era's 1st and 2nd class battleship designations could be stretched I suppose, but it really would be nice to come up with something that refers to the ship's "short legs" just as "coastal battleship" does.

"Coastal" means nothing in space.

Perhaps something like "cluster ship" or "mains ship" to indicate that it is limited to a close stellar cluster or mains?

I posted some additional thoughts on my blog. To me the Sylea is an old friend. And that's just the way it is.

As far as I know, the Sylea class(es) are only canonically mentioned twice, as a hundred tonne battleship, and that's probably off, and the more likely two hundred kay variant in Mongoose First High Guard.

The 'canonical' Sylea is 100,000t and has an illustration in Library Data A-M.

DGP mentions it, with no details, and there is the counter in TNE Battle Rider - but that may be a ship name rather than class designation.

I wonder if there is a Sylea class BB in T4 canon?

Quick note, the Sylea class is not listed on any of the lists found here;

I don't have a wiki account, and am not interested in one, but someone may want to edit this.

This is a limitation of the Wiki list generation process. The Title says "Representative" for this reason. We know the list is incomplete. If it really bothers you (the plural you), I'll take another look at setup to see if I can make the lists inclusive.

I'm not bothered by it not being on the list. I am concerned that the old mainstay "bad boy" heavy hitter is losing its hold in official continuity.

wiki garbage

All of my ships on the traveller wiki are there for my exclusive amusement, there is nothing canon about any of them. Hate the designs, all HGS btw, feel free not to use any of them and post your own if you wish. That is how wikis work. I like the fig leaf imagery btw. Build the battleships the way you want them, organize fleets your own way. Under no circumstances should any referee be held to the tyranny of a single point of view about how their personal universe should function.

I have fixed the list generator and now all of the ships are on the correct list.
