Steyr ACR

The pipes are great! We share some relatives in the MacDonalds, Jacobites for sure (though lets not speak of Culloden). Did you know there was a whole suburb of Danzig I believe, called "Schottland" for it's Scot inhabitants.

My family mostly is from an arc from the Vosges to the Carpatians (Erdely!), many soldiers, though also gentry, my grandmother was baptized at Notre Dame in Paris because Stephansdom in Vienna was too "provincial".

LOL .... but Vienna smells better than Paris! Paris smells to much like Milan....

Very true, though I think Venice is about the worst in summer.

That would be a great scene for a Traveller adventure, you land and it smells wretched....

I lived 29 mi outside of Venezia in Vicenzia/Veneto for four years ... Venezia smelled bad summer and winter.

I am a FAMAS fan... played with it and used it in combat... though the M4 if lovingly cared for will top it. My issue is the caliber and it all stems back to the adoption of 7.62 and later 5.56.... 7.62 hands down reach out and F$#K someone... but lately I have fired 6.8mm with satisfaction and 7mm. For traveller purposes 7mm to 8mm (7.92mm ring a bell) is ideal for the ACR. The combination IR/RF/Optic sight with integrated HUD is a exciting prospect. Further the sabot AP round or a HEAP at a micro level is intriguing. What really gets the juices flowing is the electro-thermal-chemical propellant. No more brass collection .... better yet no more hot brass coming out of your buddies ejection port on your neck.

Anyway I also liked the shoot through grenades of the FAMAS.... some old concepts are not bad.... the 58mm Anti-Char Grenade was nice .... both the 40mm AP and the 58mm Anti-Char grenades had merit when compared to the 40mm short Grenade round used in the 203 and 320? GL... of course the range on the 40mm Long (MK 19) is lovely in creating a beaten area or covering dead space)

Trieste has always been one of my favorite cities. You know the windage and light caliber issues you mention make me think the Flechette round is probably not as good as one says. I know through pyshics that an object, such as a flechette or any projectile after a certain length times circumference has a tendancy to tumble after a distance, no matter how much energy is used in propellant, 5.56's are a notorious example.

HE is always nice, just physics, the more energy one can put into an area.

MY ACR favorite

my sales pitch .....

The FAMAS G2000.... with rifle grenades.... raise the caliber to 6.8mm or 7mm and do the the Tech level 10-11 hocus pocus and shazam ... nano-carbon stock, sleek styling, HUD Integrated Electronic Sight with : IR , laser target aimpoint, Optics Magnification x1 to x4, Gyro-stabilized. Did I forget the electric-thermal-chemical propellant..... the better feature is the the shoot through grenades that are laser guided munitions... just slap that baby on, flick a switch for electric primary ignition. Laser your target and pull the trigger... [fump]... bye bye whoever it was.... and did I forget to mention it comes in your choice of camo matt finish ( Multicam, ACU, Milpat, woodland, DCU etcc...) also the bayonet lugg opens beer bottle of all makes

forgot to attach the sight to the carrying handle will update later
