Stereotypical Humans

Conniving. Always scheming, always conniving. Whether it's the nobles and their petty intrigues, or the commoners plotting uprisings, or megacorporations maneuvering unscrupulously for resources and market position, or that little game of making and breaking treaties that we do to gain advantage over neighbors - always conniving. It's such a basic attribute that even our children do it on the schoolgrounds.

The Zhodani do it, the Solomani do it, lord knows the Imperials do it. Conniving humans!

Humans are a disease. Their sole function is to replicate and destroy their host.

However, that description would seem to cover most of the major races...

Sort of depends on the viewpoint:

1. Aslan - planet thieving, fast breeding, honor less prey that will eventually bow to the superiority of all Aslan, but particularly to my clan, or at least they'll be forced to buy our low grade consumable items

2. Hivers - those adorable twits, little do they know what we have planned ... Next year the hemlines will drop and tan will be the new black

3. Vegans - will you just leave us alone for 5 decades

4. Vargr - daddy's favorites, always getting the best of everything ... Wouldn't be so snooty if they still had tails

5. K'kree - here we go again, "ahem, is this on? fruits and veggies are a great alternative to other snacks and they're healthy too!"

6. Droyne - oh yeah, we used to run this place, show some respect ...

Wow, I dont want to be a human. Its amazing how we see nothing but darkness in ourselves. We have forgot the humanity, loving, giving, we have forgot our intelligence geting into space, we have forgot are works of art, we have forgot that we are successful. We have looked into the darkness and fear of life so long we are afraid of our light.

Do you think the other races would think of themselves in the negative light? Can we frame the others in a more positive light? Or is the "other" always a negative?

Can the Aslan be brave
K'Kree spiritual
Hiver Intelligent
Vargr Loyal

Though I used many stereotypes imagine the positive stereotypes. Imagine a K'Kree explaining the value of vegetarianism instead of killing a meat eater. Then imagine a human trying to explain that not all humans are meat eaters.

If all Traveller humans are dark, than all player characters are dark, does that make all players dark at heart. Would we kill K'Kree or try to have conversation with them.

Human:Form of Life that is Sexually Transmitted and Always Terminal
Self replicating repair systems - useful if inside a controlled grav plate environment otherwise target practice

Vampire Fleet: .
Binary Copied and Immortal.

Sifu strolls in...

So how would a non-human quickly characterize us? What are our most important, common features?

That reminds me of lines I wrote just a day or two ago.
from novel ADVENTURES OF A MAD SCIENTIST, story AN ULTIMATE RESOLUTION

"I had a lot of time to read from Terra's written archives while I was isolated. Very enlightening. Psychology studies of them, along with works of Machiavelli, Marx, Hitler. Military tactics and mob psychology through the actions of Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon. I learned much about what some of you call 'abnormal psychology' with the works of Freud, Adler, Jung. Literature! I enjoyed reading, over and over, works from masters of the craft, such as Shakespeare, Jules Verne, Tom Clancy.

"You humans are full of miswired urges. It would be a simple matter to repattern your neuron sequences, but that would remove what it is that makes you unique. You persist, succeed, some might say overwhelm, despite your shortcomings."

Conversation between a human and an alien -

"We have no limits! There's no telling what our future will be."

"It may be that you have no limits," the voice agreed. "That is to be determined.
But, if true, it is not a point in your favor. For we have limits."

"It's not my world Monkey Boy!"

Ya know humans tend not to be very flattering of their own species in their writing...Just hope it doesn't end up int eh hands of a CIVILIZED race.

So... These wouldn't be typical Travellers? :smirk:

They look like humans on vacation... Well, Europeans or Americans anyway...

No they are not. Common mistake, those are lower case "tee" or travellers.

Upper case "tee" or Travellers are hardened adventurers working across the stars toward some goal or another. Usually CrImps for berthing and fuel or more gear. Sometimes even power.

One type is annoying as hell, the other who you contact via the TNS Classified Ads to get that thing back that maybe you shouldn't have had in the first place.

Everyone knows humans are terrible spellers and they all have accents and speak very loudly, particularly when dealing with foreign languages they don't understand. It is commonly held that if they speak their language at a shout slowly someone not speaking it will suddenly understand what is being said perfectly.
