Finally Lucas is doing something that the fans may want...he is proposing that all the Star Wars sixology in 3D. It might help us ignore the stilted dialogue...as I for one do not need any more extra scenes.
George Lucas "I always wanted Star Wars to be in 3D but the technology just wasn't there at the time. Now it can finally be seen the way I wanted it to be seen."
While all I can think is...
George Lucas smiling all the way to the bank.
Oh well, maybe some good will come of it. Maybe he'll restore...
Oh, btw, I once considered myself a fan. At this point I could not care at all about the whole SW money making franchise or what happens with it. I can't imagine any fans were screaming for 3D and a part of me hopes it falls flatter than 2D.
there is a large group of the population that will never fully enjoy 3D.
Between color blindness (even slightly color blinded), stigmatism and the almighty 3D projected on to a flat screen, 3D movies just are not what they are PR'd to be.

Just an FYI, modern 3D don't use Ye Olde Red-Blue techniques, rather they use a polarization technique, or "special goggles" synced to the movie electronically that closes off each eye using an LCD panel.
As for Star Wars, it can go pound sand. The last 3 movies were so in intolerably bad, yet I was sick enough to actually go see them all.
But I'll keep my original Star Wars Ralph McQuarrie concept art print set.
Lucas has a gift (or well paid production designers). I LOVE the "look" of Star Wars movies, even the modern ones. But, they're nigh unwatchable in spite of it.
(Mind, the first scene of Episode 1 with the Jedis doing their light saber dance through the droids and cutting through the blast doors -- THAT was great. The rest of the movies simply burned in the atmosphere during re-entry.)

Yep, but there are still about 10-15% of the population iirc that just can't see those same modern 3D effects for various reasons. There was some talk about it when Spykids 3D came out.
And thanks for lol with the reason for your edit, though now I'm all curious what your typing in tongues, er, fingers? resulted in
We have a 3D TV here in the office that requires no headwear of any kind. Seriously, I'm convinced it's black magic!
The screen is laser etched with vertical facets so you get a different picture depending on your angle to the screen. It also means each of your eyes recieves a different picture. It's not perfect. There's a zone in the centre of the screen that works much better than the outer edges and it works much better when you are stood dead centre facing the screen. it's still freaky seing arms and flying objects pushing out of the surface of the screen though!
I personally think 3D is still what it was when it was first concieved way back in the 50's with the old red and green - a gimmick. It'd be cool to see the original Star Wars in 3D once but it's not something I think the movies actually needs.
I wouldn't buy them in DVD but I do think that it would make a fairly spectacular showing in the movie cinemas...if Mr. Lucas is bright enough, he might group them in clusters of 2 or 3 that way someone could see the whole sixology in 2 or 3 viewings. But, I fear, Mr. Lucas' greed will win over and I might see The New Hope, Empire and Revenge in 3D but I could not justify the others.
