SpaceMaster meets Megatraveller

Personally, what I would really love to do is run Space Master in the Traveller/Megatraveller universe :)

It's not that hard to come up with SpaMCo prior experience templates for the OTU given a copy of MT and SpaM+SpaMCo. Or was that in SpaMCo2???

Anyway, it's not a big leap for either SpaM 1E or 2E. I've not kept up on it, and don't have SpaMPriv (Which, I understand, is 3E...)
 
Oh, I know it wouldn't be very hard...And it would (mechanically) be a better game. I would still use High Guard ship construction rules. Ship combat would be the hardest part to modify...Though not that hard.
 
Converting the ship combat SHOULD be pretty easy...

SpaM has ship laser tables, ship missile tables, and IIRC, Plasma and Fusion tables. (I can't dig down to mine right now... bottom crate of several)

Trick is converting HG AV to something useful with those, and assigning Concussion Hits to the HG design.

SpaM 2E's ships box has a decent design system.
 
The biggest challenge is converting AV to CAT. I thought about each level of armor (CT HG) either raised the CAT by 1 level or +5 DB.

Concussion hits are easy, as that is based on ship tonnage.

Also, Figuring HUD bonus for weapons was a concern of mine.
 
Nuclear Dampers are simply DB vs Nukes. I'd suggest just using the USP as a rank on skill table as a conversion.

What's the CAT range (1-10 or 1-20)? (I can't remember)
If 1-20, just use 1+ HG AV purchased as CAT. If it's 1-10, every even is a CAT raise, every odd a +5 DB.

For comparison, HG AV 0-(TL), with a bonus for planetoids of up to +6.
Which, in the scope of CT, means 0-21 for the OTU, and 0-27 for homebrew settings (since TL21 is attainable by random world gen).

I was thinking along a different line.

The CAT in Space Master represents what type of armor. The bonus represents thickness.

In Megatraveller, the exact armor type being used is defined. From CT, you could base that on the Tech Level.

The armor bonus could be represented by increased DB or increased Concussion hits (Like thicker armor in SpaceMaster does)
