Ship Design TL8 Escort

Hi,

I've tried to design a TL8 spaceship using the T5 rules, could someone take a look and advise if I'm doing this correctly? I had to use a TL9 computer, as there's no facility to adjust a TL8 one to assist Jump,

I wasn't sure as programmes appear to have disappeared. The only thing I could find was a single use Jump Tape at TL9 on page 623.

Actually thinking about it the bis model was 1 Jump grater than the normal model, so 0 bis for J1 at TL8 makes total sense.

Yes. And it would be very interesting indeed to see a Vilani Jump-Calculation Slide Rule. Talk about overachievers.

Here's how I'm thinking about it. Scotty has to program the jump drive. He has a few choices:

1. He can unlock a port on the drive itself and flip a hundred physical switches. Referees love it, players hate it, and so do player characters.

2. He can control it from a specialized control console at his workspace on the bridge. The Star Trek scenario.

3. He can control it from a less powerful but portable controller (the "jPad" from Tukera), with a wireless gravitic connection for instance ("now with blazingly fast W5G!"), from the breakroom while sipping a latte. But people may think he's not a very committed worker.

4. He can control it from any control console, if the ship has at least a Model/0 Ship's Computer. I think nearly all ships fall into this category.

5. He can tell the Ship's Model/1 Computer to do it, because a Model/1 can perform up to 1 task at a time for you. Of course, if this is just a TL9 Computer, then the target number is a 9, which means it will fail regularly at average tasks.

I made a major error in thinking I only needed a prototype J1 drive, as efficiency is rounded down I actually need an experimental J2 drive. I've
reworked the ship around a 1,200 ton hull, but with only 8 hard points, it's tough fitting crew in with all the fuel requirements:
