Are there plans for alien books etc for T5? That's one of the pluses in my eyes for MGT, their plans for all the alien books and sector looks like Deneb.

But as I remember I preferred the skill system from T4

I hate to be the guy that mentions this again, but the Somphonts Maker does not seem to be the same concept as details on the Traveller races we know and love. While the culture information I would assume will be compatible from one edition to another, are their plans to detail the major races from a mechanic standpoint in the Big Book, or will that be reserved for future supplemental books?

There is talk of the Galaxiad, a huge adventure that explains *everything*. So I assume the standard setting will be there.

I keep hearing about a players guide, player races might be covered stat wise in that book if not in the BBB.

Something to ponder: except when unavoidable, the Deneb book was written to be largely rules-system neutral.

And in fact the minor aliens, though adjusted to use Mongoose descriptions and conventions, were generated using SophontMaker.

I know all this, because I wrote the book that way, and generated the aliens that way.

So, consider that with some modifications, Mongoose material can work fine with Traveller, 5th Edition.
