Rogue questions

Daddicus

SOC-13
In the errata for page 92, the rogue's payoff is to be P = V x (1 + CC + mods - R) where

P = Payoff
V = Value (from the table, between cr10,000 and cr200,000)
CC = Controlling characteristic
Mods = seems to be just the caution/bravery mod
R = a die roll

Assuming you pick a high stat, say 9, and no mod, then the formula becomes V x (10 - R), or values from 4 to 9. Thus, the payoff will be in the millions for some entries.

Is this what they really mean?

Yeppers!

Forgot the other question: What is an "Abandoned Scheme" (skill table)?
Regarding the Abandoned Scheme chart, there is no such chart. What it means when a Rogue decides not to chance it, and abandons a Scheme and does not do Risk and Reward, they only get one Skill roll as opposed to the four for a successful Scheme (Risk/Reward).

Yes, a successful Rogue can make sick bank in around five Terms. For lots of cheese take a Vargr with a high Vigor, say Vigor C (12) and run them through the Rogue Career. And now you know how they afford those custom Corsair ships.
