In the errata for page 92, the rogue's payoff is to be P = V x (1 + CC + mods - R) where
P = Payoff
V = Value (from the table, between cr10,000 and cr200,000)
CC = Controlling characteristic
Mods = seems to be just the caution/bravery mod
R = a die roll
Assuming you pick a high stat, say 9, and no mod, then the formula becomes V x (10 - R), or values from 4 to 9. Thus, the payoff will be in the millions for some entries.
