Ravell's Calender Map Discussion

So this thread is for the discussion of what map Ravells should do for the 2010 Traveller Calender for charity. What map would you find interesting enough for it to be included. Now understand that I don't have the final say in what gets included in the calender. Anyway let's discuss it.

Here are some suggestions from me.

I think a general "tourist" type of map of Capital could be interesting. In the right style it could be artistic. It doesn't even have to be a 'current' tourist map but one from a few hundred years ago.

An 'old' map of a planetside battlefield or military campaign could be interesting. Think about the campaign maps produced for illustrating Patton's advance into Germany during WW2. Maybe a campaign map of the battles leading to the capitualtion of Terra at the end of the Solomani Rim War.

Maybe a geographic map of an acknowledged Ancient site in the Spinward Marches similar to the maps that National Geographic does for mountains of Earth like Everest.

Well there's a few to get the discussion started.

There is a cross section of Strephon's palace in Traveller's Digest #9, I think. It's the Capital issue. There is a cross section of the palace with the general locations of several areas of note pointed out, and more of a detailed floorplan of the throne room itself.

Wow Randy, didn't think there would be much interest in my map suggestion. Your first one, the tourist map brought to mind Toff's 'Venus Public Transit System' -you may have to register with the Cartographers' Guild to see it but it's a stunner. Something like that for Regina would look fantastic.

I was thinking though that for it to appear on the Calendar it would have to be 'iconic' in some way - for example the Skyraiders pull out map, but it would be hard to put any interest in it without changing it entirely...and part of the charm of the maps that came with the old adventures was their simplicity...I wouldn't want to mess with them, it would seem like desecration somehow...

but if I were to do jazzed up map of something that appeared in the old adventures, would there be copyight problems?

Why 'old'? I'd love to see a map of one of the 5FW campaigns, especially if it is a campaign that hasn't been covered in detail!
