Pocket Empires: Sell me on it or warn me off

So combine Pocket Empires with Imperial Squadrons, add a dash of FF&S2 and you have the recipe for Imperium spanning meta-campaigns. I used them for a Rebellion campaign and am looking now to try out an Imperial Civil War scenario.

The errata is minor and usually the errors in PE go unnoticed until it's too late. Such are the vagaries of T4.

It also features 2 new Carreers, the Diplomat and the Bureaucrat, both of which are of course rather "dull" concerning the background story they might bring up (read: roll out); however the diplomat at can work well with the scout in such campaigns and can be combined with named for a good first-contact-specialist. The bureaucrat works fine with the noble for true "ruler" characters. I quite liked both of them.
The PE sourcebooks also explains the government types a bit closer (from the ruler point of view of course) and features a ssytem for handling an empire via points and dice.
I like the idea, but never played such a campaign, since it is more meta-gaming and the idea of a "'Masters of Orion'-pen and paper campaign" appeals only littel to me.
