Patent of Nobility Card (where are you?)

Hi,

I was trying to avoid Metagaming, as a mere Viscount in Corridor I'm quite sure I'm not a crony of Dulinor's and privy to his plans...

Kind Regards

David

Well. He is robject and Dulinor is Dulinor unless he has a specific card that says Dulinor.

So, perhaps as he goes to clean out the rif raf, as a former Duke, and you switch back to the Imperium. Probably only his trusted evil Dukes know his scheme.

that's one of the things that bothered me about the rebellion era, how do you sound out Imperial Nobles and Officers about assassinating the emperor, when you share a border with a hostile power (the Aslan & Solomani, in Ileshes case) and you are a parvenu, whose mere appointment has upset entrenched interests (yet they go along with the plan). I could probably nit pick all day...

Hi,

Just had another thought, the cards clearly state Traveller 5 and we don't know where this version of Traveller is going yet, so in the OTU of T5 someone other than Dulinor could be appointed Archduke of Ilelish...

If you want to go super-meta, I suppose this means Duke Ilelish sallies forth and metaphorically assassinates Duke Sylea, Emperor. I'm not sure I want to do cosplay / Rebellion War reenactments, tho.

That would make Marc the 'god' of Traveller, I suppose.

Ahem. Time to ban Robject from my personal presence. And I am NOT the emperor, even if I am Archduke Sylea. (Tries to scrub the target off the chest.)

OR....

Marc is the real Strephon, Aramis is one of the Emperor's body doubles, the really good one that fools everyone, and in some administrative tasks, actually outperforms the Emperor.

Speaking as a new noble who has found out his planet gets apocalypsed twice, I would like to game out the events in our neck of the woods, to see how things could be changed. As Dagrill points out, new edition, possibly (but not necessarily) new OTU, or ATU, (OTU5?), whatever you call it.

What is a sophant? A gentically engineered intelligent elephant? ;)

(I still think 'sapient' would have been a better coinage, but the word the Andersons coined is sophont.)

Hans
You do realize you are correcting spelling in a discussion of a game called "Traveller"?:rofl::rofl:

Traveller vs traveler - one is the British spelling, one is the American.

Making things British ads to their panache, at least in America. Its still hard for me not to think of nobles not speaking in British accents. So while I read these posts I do it with a British accent in my head. Which is silly since we all know only ancient Romans spoke with British accents. However, I'm not currently active on an ancient Romans' forum.

Personally I like "sophonts" and hope that it will stick when we finally do encounter them.

Prussian!

Not all Imperial Nobles speak with a British accent you know, some favor the Prussian, while I prefer the Terran Northlands accent. I mean geez, we are part of a star spanning Space EmpireSM, I think we have a couple a different accents among our Noblity.

And as a mild aside, does anyone know if Prince Albert spoke with a Britsh accent? I am curious as I seem to recall his being German which I suspect would mean at one time in the British one of the most powerful nobles may not have had a British accent. If true then, nyah, take that and your we all talk like Brits. :p

Marc's userid is Avery. ;)

The bright side, IMTU you escape to create Stephon's Stronghold.

Aramis = Stephon :eek:

Too late for Aramis to remove the target. The 7th, 101st, and 1st Dinocrome Brigades have been deployed to remove him.

:p

And some of us have the remains of a French Acadian accent, one that the Academy drillmasters tried so very hard to eliminate.

For the visually challenged:
LORD HOSTMAN
ARCHDUKE OF SYLEA
CORE 2118 SYLEA A586A98-F
SIR WILLIAM
COUNT TERRA
SOLO 1827 TERRA A867A69-F
Arrived today.
I got dizzy when I read them. *I* wouldn't believe it without the pic...

Since Aramis has been elevated to the dignity of Archduke of Sylea, but NOT installed as "His Imperial Majesty, Emperor of the Third Imperium", does this mean he should be styled as "His Highness" or "His Imperial Grace"? :)

Perhaps an important question for Moot deliberations? :)

I believe it would be Imperial Grace, or just Grace.

But my Papworth's is buried.
