Patent of Nobility Card (where are you?)

Mmm, if I do it won't be until after his vacation. I'll consider it then. On the whole though, I'm happy enough, though having my Charname on something would be nifty.

As per Don's directions, I emailed Marc. He was unable to get the assigned worlds straightened out on the first go around. He will be doing new patents after everything is shipped and T5 is up and running. These will be mailed out to the KS people who had specific requests, probably late this summer.

He asks for our continued patience while this is going on, he is doing as much as he can so that we are as happy with our support as he can make us.

Thank you,

I had a similar response to my email from FFE/Marc, I was surprised at the prompt response, but no problem waiting as it also fits in with my plans as I hope to be moving home shortly and would hate it to go astray...

Kind Regards

David

Here is where my patents are located, I have no idea which to say is my homeworld, but if I make a character (instead of refereeing) I will likely just pick one.

New Patents

Does that mean multiple people may end up with the the same title and system?

You are here --->

TAS - Sector Diaspora; Subsector A: Narquel; System: Justi

Knight - Sector Dagudashaag; Subsector Old Suns; System Gavadh

Count of the Third Imperium - Sector: Corridor; Subsector Kouth; System Khouth

I'm new to Traveller so... I'm not at all familiar with history, location, etc.

As far as I can tell there isn't much (anything) I can find on Justi. Not even really sure how the System relates to TAS.

Okay, I'll admit that I was bummed about Gvadh. Old Suns is listed as a back water. Gvadh has virtually no humans and the ones that are there aren't liked. So if you are usually Knighted on your home world and Gvadh is mine then, well what can I say. On the other hand maybe I received my Knighthood because I'm some great human diplomat that earned the respect of S'mrii and Vargr and became the ambassador. I did get a cool name, good for RPG ideas.

Khouth is in the Corridor Sector. I'm not sure but that looks like a cool place. Plenty of traffic between Core Worlds and Spinward Marches. Close to Vargr Extents (probably after ambassador, that is why I was moved here), a hop skip and two sectors from the Zhodani Consulate.

Tell me you thoughts on where I'm at, cool or... be honest.

My cards state my primary character as
Sir Tarlon Rhaan, Gerim (A888A97-E)/Caledon/Reavers Deep (2416)
TAS Membership Card issued for/at
Tarlon Rhaan, Kiwhi (C301231-B)/Uradnim/Antares (1121)

I had asked for my char's current homeworld Efate, but that world would probably have been crowded with nobles if every wish came true. I'm okay with Marc's choice, though.:)

May I ask about the land grant a Knight usually receives (T5p96 "Noble Lands")? A hex on which of the world's geodesic maps is meant (world, terrain, local, individual - T5p444)? I haven't yet played any noble... But from here it appears to be the local hex of 10km diameter, is that true?

[edit] Found it on T5p50 top left "Land Grant Owned Local Hex". So the 10km diam is correct. [/edit]

What are the resposibilities for a Knight on such a world?
An Ambassador, a Representative or Spokesman of the Imperium?
There are no real political powers in the Knighthood, right?
Which higher ranking nobles may/will be present on that world?

I'm Count of Natoko/Rhylanor. C8879AB-9.

I couldn't be happier: a high pop world with a breathable atmosphere, ruled by a charistmatic dictator (hey, I guess that's me), and it's got an Ancient site where I can indulge my archaeological interests (currently in preparation - The Archaeologists' Guide to the Galaxy: Always know where your trowel is).

Marc couldn't have picked me a better world.

And my knighthood is for York/Solomani Rim (aka t'broad hectares and God's Own Planet), which is the one I'd asked for, since I'm from Yorkshire, sithee.

Welcome to Traveller. Clearly a point of opportunity. Your subjects are billions of COTI and Vargr, 2 numbered fleets, nice starport, billions in orbital complexes per the wiki MT/TNE future, liquid not water (probably produced), insideous atmo, tough gov't (possibly like china). Perhaps a subsector commerce relationship with the Vargr. Probably a good economy.

No line of commerce so I'd say your working on it. There are several heading from Corridor Imperium towards Vargr Extents.
Have fun with it!

Thank you

Do you think so? I've grown partial to the idea of being from Gvadh and one of the few humans to being a Knighted Ambassador to Count at Khouth being so close to the Vargr. Makes for an interesting story line.

However I'm not sure I follow what you mean?

You lost me here...

I'm looking forward to it. The rules seem to be a bit of a task though, but that's another thread.

Once upon a time I had a wiki bookmark where you could look up all the worlds. That link does not seem to work for me anymore. Can anyone provide a working link? I know where I am on the map, but it would be nice to see if there is any prior cannon for these worlds. Thanks.

Trade lines

The green lines on the traveller map are trade lines. I probably said commerce or something. This world does not have a green trade line so you've seen the opportunity to build one. If you look at the traveller map you'll see several lines heading to the Extents but not in that subsector. Relations will subsectors worlds need to leverage trade and security with the local Vargr.

Not an ambassador because you'd be in the extents but a "multi-billion sophont (people)" Bablyon 5-like planet leader.

I thought we we're discussing only Corridor. Dagudashaag is near Vland sector middle of the Imperium. It is not in the Vargr Extents. The Extents are coreward of the Imperium.

See http://travellermaps.com/ it will help.

Xboats can go anywhere, but yes it is the "primary" xboat route for communications, if you check the some of the CT/MT adventures. It is also the main travel commerce route lines for the Imperium. It might me a good Marc question: How much trade and travel constitutes a new line? The lines are OTU. Your ref or you can do whatever you want in your game. Assuming it is in the vicinity. My point is that a 2d star map and a solid communication line with no commerce backbone is a dated concept. Secondary Xboats should reach every naval base, fleet. Secondary commerce should reach every type A starport (my thoughts on that).

But your noble might be making a lot of money at focusing trade across these locations. I can tell you that it is typically a J2 line.

Hope this helps.

I added emphasis.

It does, I appreciate your help,; I think I have some looking up to do as I don't even know what "CT/MT adventures", "OTU" or "a J2 line" even is yet.

Looks like the worlds are pretty good for gaming.

Couldn't be happier.

CT/MT adventures = Classic Traveller/MegaTraveller adventures. Those would be the first and second editions of Traveller, done in the 1970s and 1980s.
OTU = Official Traveller Universe. This is the stuff you see in the books. It is different than when people say IMTU, which is In My Traveller Universe.
J2 line = Using the maps of the OTU, it would be a set of planets that a ship equipped with a jump engine capable of doing Jump-2, or J2, could easily navigate. That makes it a major trade and communications line.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the assistance Curmudgeon. I notice after decades we take these things for granted.

Ken at Sunrise. I agree! Have fun. But don't get too tangled in the original Traveller universe. You could spend a year reading everything about everything.
