Northrop Grumman to Develop Brain-Wave Binoculars

I don't know, I think it is even more exciting than the headline. Binoculars that can learn to recognize threats from a distance? That is actually a pretty sophisticated task.

If they could get it to work. My guess is a few million $ later they'll figure out they can't do it. It would be great if they could get it to work, and even nicer if they could do something like the Iron Man targeting system (when he makes his 1st appearance as Mk III in that village). But how are they going to get to the point where the computer can figure out - hey, the soldier thought he may have seen something that may be important but did not get a close enough look? Seems too ambiguous to me.

I haven't seen Iron Man, so I didn't get that reference.

Yeah, there are some pretty huge hurdles to get over to get something like this up and running. On the other hand, cybernetic limbs are just around the corner. In some ways, this is not all that far removed from that. The binocs just need more A.I. to back them up.

I think that in the long run, this comes down to a question of time and money. Throw enough money at the problem for a long enough period of time and the problem will go away. Your tax dollars at work...
