OTU Only: New Revealed Physics and Tech

I read thru Campaign 1: Secrets of the Ancients and have found some revelations concerning some assumptions of the OTU universe physics. Ya, sure its the Ancients, but it is now there to rear it's ugly heads. The Third Imperium never lives to see this implemented, but the physics are there.

Mesons can be blocked. (Meson communications are cut off during one scene due to Ancients ships blocking)

Ancient Technology Level: 18–19 at the core; 16–17 at the fringe systems
All characters have personal fusion pistols
Warships are using disintegrators as their primary weapon and are protected by black globes.
Self-aware AIs are possible, but uncommon.
Travel is via starship or shuttle; experiments in teleporter technology have begun, but currently teleportation is uniformly lethal to living creatures.
Power is generated by microfusion power plants.
Communication is still limited to slower-than-light mesons or jump-6 jump torpedoes.
Creation of the Vargr

Ancient Technology Level: 19–21 at the core; 18–19 at the fringe systems
Personal disintegrators and force shields are common smallarms
Ships are equipped with proton screens and long-range tractors as well as disintegrators; the new breed of warships have spine-mounted relativity beams that attack enemy ships
in the past.
Terraforming has advanced massively – Cordillon for example (originally X443423–C), has been turned into something close to a garden world.
Teleportation portals are not yet in common use, but every big ship and city has a few.
The Empire has grown too large for the current centralised government to manage; even the establishment of a super-fast jump relay grid (comparable to the X-Boat network, but composed of millions of jump-capable microdrones) has failed to stem the tide.
During the course of the adventure, the ansible network is revealed (TL22): An ansible network allows for instantaneous communication across tens of parsecs. It operates on a higher level of jumpspace than that accessed by conventional jump drives.

Ancient Technology Level: 26+ at the core; 23–24 at the fringe systems
At this level of technology, teleportation portals are ubiquitous.
Whole planetary systems can be crossed with a single footstep.
While some ships still have their own jump drives, it is more common to use interstellar gates to travel from system to system.
The ansible network links the entire Ancient civilisation together.

"The technology used to create the Ancient teleport networks comes from a variety of tech levels. Creation of portals to pocket universes is about TL 25. The actual pinching off of pocket universes is closer to TL 35." [Secret of the Ancients, p. 41]

Since Yaskoydray is know to have pinched off a number of pocket universes, his TL must be at least 35.

Yes. It is commented on in the new adventure that the TL of the Droyne Empire TL 26+ just prior to the Ancients' War and 27+ a year later once Yaskoydray begins. His pinching off of the universe (TL35+) seems to have occurred after the major portion of the war is over. Probably just kept getting better as the war was going on.

On Teleportals and their use, to reconcile sources...
TL 19 - Possible, but uniformly fatal for living beings (Transport of inorganic raw materials?)
TL 21 - Not yet in common use, but every big ship and city has a few.
TL 25 - Standard purchase (everyone has one or everyone can buy one)

Which reminds me...There is also the person sized Star Trigger on mention on page 171 of the new adventure.
TL26+ Intentionally creating the Maghiz/Star Trigger/Solar Flares

The T5 technology section would probably be of interest to you - it does a pretty good job of filling in the tech tree all the way to the singularity...

a lot of the stuff you have mentioned is in there too.

FTL Communication

I am interested in seeking out the Ansible and FTL Communication for MTU.

I was thinking of perhaps developing a drone transportation system that sent preprogrammed messages 6.74318.... Light Years every 24 hours and traveled directly to the programmed destination no matter how many light years away the target system was located (therefore traveling 135 light years in about 20 days).
I wonder what level of technology that would work out to be?

Based on my earlier post, it seems that around TL 18-21, the 100dTon limit is broken for jump allowing for smaller jump ships else there would not be "millions of jump capable drones". Unless the definition of drones is now considered 100dTons.

Your quotes upthread actually mention the introduction of "Jump-6 torpedoes", and then later "millions of jump capable microdrones".

It is hard for me to imagine something displacing 100 tons being considered "micro" by any reasonable definition. I would say that the intent of the text is definitely that the 100 ton limit has been circumvented at some point.

MgT seems to be reintroducing the "semi-canon" concept of "jump-torpedoes" utilized in early versions of CT (such as in Leviathan), just more sophisticated and at a higher TL, and eventually leading to the ultra-sophisticated "microdrones" at some later point.
