Nepotism: Regarding Nobles

But be aware, as I noted above, that there are subtle differences between the CT sources you quoted above, and the current T5 paradigm.

All Nobles (Soc> = 11) Receive a Land Grant Charter (or presumably something of equivalent value at the GM discretion). Regardless of whether they went thru the Noble Career or not. I confirmed that with Marc personally, face to face at TravellerCon.

Not all Nobles are Active Nobles associated with the world (as Marc refers to them), as shown in the UWP Noble Extension (as shown on TravellerMap). Those are what the Imperiallines publication calls "Landed Nobles" (proper) and Marc refers to as having the World and it's associated Charter elements and duties and responsibilities as a "Fief".

Then we are talking past each other. The points made meaningless by preference of edition.

Perhaps so. While I highly respect CT and attempt to harmonize the current model with it where possible, I am working primarily from the T5 model.

What you have been saying DOES have a much better fit with the original CT paradigm.

(Of course, there are still elements that I am having to infer or take an educated guess about concerning the T5 paradigm as well - so there is the possibility that I will have to correct my thinking on some of these things in the future).
