MT CD rom edition

I believe it contains:
Players' Manual
Referee's Manual
Imperial Encyclopedia
Referee's Companion
Rebellion Sourcebook
COACC
Fighting Ships of the Shattered Imperium
Knightfall
Assignment: Vigilante
Hard Times

I don't know what's happened to Diaspora Sector and Arrival Vengeance though?

Hmmm... Is Marc shipping or just taking pre-orders? I'll take one as soon as they're available but I don't want to pay & wait.

As far as I know there's no reason it should not include Diaspora Sector and Arrival Vengeance.

What concerns me is the quality of the scans and OCR.

If he is not including any new material (material not already provided by DriveThru) then the only comparison is quality.

DriveThru's scan quality is poor, with misaligned pages, pages out of order, pages with grey backgrounds hardly readable. All that would be acceptable if the OCR was ok, but, that is horrible.

The customer service at drive thru is great, fixing problems as they are reported to them, but, it is frustrating to print out a book, just to find double or missing pages (I print booklet/brouchere style, so a misprint means doing a whole new book)
Copying and pasting the text is a waste of time, with you needing to almost retype the pages anyway due to errors.

I have purchased the entire collection of GDW products from DriveThru since there has been no alternative until now.

If the CD is a rehash of the DriveThru stuff, then I will pass, but if Mark has taken the time and put in the effort to do a proper scan and OCR, I will order it immediately.

I just wish Hunter or someone would either give us a product review or grab a few pages and post them so that we can have a sampling of the material.

best regards

Dalton

Well, I guess we have two options...

A. One of us has to take a plunge and actually go and buy the wretched thing (we probably all will in the end...)

B. Try emailing Marc and not really get a reply...as I emailed him quite consistently about getting an update on Reprints for Traveller & Twilight getting no answer.

C. Holler for Hunter to get on the horn...and get the answers that the CofI was not meant to know.

Wait a minute...that is three options. So be it...we have 3 choices. It does look a pre-order product as it is not yet on his main sales page rather it is a direct link to paypal. True that portion of his website could be undergoing construction like much of the rest of the site. But, I am just glad the project does appear nearing completion.

I grabbed the free MT Player Manual from DriveThru a couple of weeks ago, and was happy with the product. Actually, I was fairly impressed.

Now, I downloaded the Twilight 2000 book last week. :( IT was terribly done. Whoever scanned it didn't increase the whatchamacallit - so you can see the print on the other side of the page. It makes it look awful.

The only problems I've seen with the MT book is a few of the characters are OCRed wrong if you do a copy and paste, and some of the lines are "out of order" in the tables (again, if you do a copy and paste).
