I play regular Twilight 2000, and one of the major disparities I see with that game and MegaTraveller is that a lot of the gear in T2K is more modern than the stuff in MT.

Obviously, what needs to be done is an upgrade project on the kit list (among other things), and I'm suggesting we start it here.

The reason I'm postulating here on the MT board is I'd prefer to put things into MT stats and have other edition users translate our work into their formats.

Does this get any good vibes?

Well, one 'yes' out of forty two views is some enthusiasm I guess!

Okay, using the Twilight 2000 equipment list as a guide, we can find many useful equipment at TL 8-9. The best net resource for T2K is of course Paul Mulcahey's Site (and he's a nice guy to boot)

Now, I'm not advocating cutting out Paul's hard work, but his gear can be transposed straight over although volumes will have to be assigned. What we can do, however, is use his stuff as a baseline for recent tech.

Consider, for example, the humble electric torch.
This can be updated quite easily. An LED torch is several times brighter and much, much smaller than an incandescent globe torch. LED torches can be worn comfortably on the forehead (providing an aiming point for hostiles!) whereas an incandescent globe torch required a remote battery pack. What will the next generation be? And the one after that?
If we postulate that each TL has a battery revolution, as per the vehicle rules, then the TL11 torch will be the size of a key ring and as powerful as a maglight. The TL12 torch is going to be the size of an M&M, and I think that's about as small as you want a torch to be!

This is just rumination though, I'll start some tech stuff tomorrow.
