MegaTraveller Module Survey

Personally, I would settle for a edited errata free & downloadable picture version CD ROM but in the long run. I would want to settle for a three volume Hardcover set encompassing the Megatraveller canon (naturally, errata free)

Volume 1 with the illustration from the Rebellion Sourcebook. Containing:
Players Handbook
Referee’s Handbook
Imperial Encyclopedia
Referee's Companion
Rebellion Sourcebook

Volume 2 with the illustration from the COACC sourcebook. Containing:
COACC
Fighting Ships
Knightfall
& Selected Challenge articles such as the Wet Navy series

Volume 3: with the cover of Assignment Vigilaante containing:
Hard Times
Arrival Vengeance
Assignment Vigilante
Astrogator’s Guide to Diaspora

I would be prepared to pay in a sliding scale to help offset some of the costs for these volumes. For instance, $65.00 for Volume 1; $55.00 for Volume 2 and $45.00 for Volume 3.

When I checked with my local print shop, the owner said this was doable if an initial print run of 9,000 was ordered.

Now Marc runs his own printshop in Normal, IL. I am sure his prices would be better.

The number of copies is not really all that extravagant if you consider that these board (CofI) have 5065 members (true, not all active and many into retirement) but a worthy project. Now with the killer art that was MegaTraveller, it could well be a successful venture.

10 MegaTraveller Boxed Set
10 Players Handbook
9 Referee’s Handbook
9 Imperial Encyclopedia
8 Referee's Companion
9 Rebellion Sourcebook
7 COACC
(terrible job on the proofing re COACC chars)
4 Fighting Ships
(argh, errata, broken ships....!)
6 Knightfall
(good production, kinda lame with the big aliens)
no rating - Hard Times
(still in search of)
no rating- Arrival Vengeance
(still in search of, have seen, want!!!!)
no rating - Assignment Vigilante
(still in search of, seen, want!!!!)
Eh? Astrogator’s Guide to Diaspora
Never even heard of that one!

Mind you, this sadly doesn't mention DGP stuff, the best of which were their format for doing equipment sheets, their world builder's handbook, and their starship operators manual. Those alone, plus 101 vehicles, made many of DGPs sins forgiveable.

In defence of Knightfall - I personally think that leaving the Primordials as a dead (as in Knightfall) or regressed species (as in the Refs Screen) was a nice twist what was ultimately a free trader adventure set in dangerous times.

IMHO the Primordials/Sparklers were no more intellectually lazy than what Nilsen, Chadwick and Wiseman cooked up with the Empress Wave (the Silver Surfer effect rather than the Fantastic Four?).

Ultimately, I am glad that DGP didnt put the Sparkler War into print as that was not one of Joe Fugate's most brilliant ideas (although again the plotline outlined in MTJ4 has more coherence to it than the mystery of the Empress Wave). I just fail to see what is lame about Travellers finding the city of a long dead (in Knightfall the suggestion is that they are long dead) ancient race that pre dates Yaskodray. My players loved it: it is the stuff that ye olde Trav adventures were made of (Twilights Peak, Shadows) - a bit formulaic but fun!

Marc;

9____ MegaTraveller Boxed Set
7____ Players Handbook
7____ Referee’s Handbook

8____ Referee's Companion
6____ Rebellion Sourcebook
4____ COACC
5____ Fighting Ships
____ Knightfall
8____ Hard Times
____ Arrival Vengeance

Special note; COACC was interesting, but I didn't take it seriously because I thought the navy and its high ground superiority would've overpower any atmospheric based force.

I was wondering how many people would support the errata free hardcover set outlined above? As we are likely to see a CD ROM anyhow, or I am just a lone wolf who would like to see these things in print again?

I'd love to see a paper version, but from a financial standpoint, a CD-ROM version would be much cheaper to produce and probably cheaper to purchase. Given that a CD version be cheaper to produce (in other words, cost less for FFE to have a block of CDs made), it'd probably also be more likely to get done.

Agreed, on both counts.
