megatraveller compared to CT ?

not much more to say on this subject than ... everyone seems right, hehe I liked MT because I liked the idea of a chaotic imperium for plot purposes.

The task system was really appreciated, I prefer it, I've never been a fan of any of the later traveller stuff... I drop my money into CT or MT all the time... the CT scenarios were a load of fun.

I never really did more than dabble in the OTU so the asassination and rebellion from MT only remotely interested me.

I did appreciate the fact that MT included all those disparate rules and cleaned them up. It was worth it! Even though I am still a CT fanatic, MT is a great resource... :D

...but I never did get those new ship design rules down... :(

One should always have let the assassination be GDW's story. The Rebellion Era, if played right could never really impact on characters, they just are there to fight the onslaught of the Night. To do that they could be part of any of the factions and resolve within the philosophy the best way to do that. Thus, whilst war fleets may be engaged in the Stars above, characters just are small players engaged in a larger struggle. I always loved Luke's speech to Ben. This is how many of my MegaTraveller campaigns began...

Wise old warrior: You must learn the ways of liberty if you're to come with me to Dlan.

Young hero: (laughing) Dlan? I'm not going to Dlan. I've got to go home. It's late, I'm in for it as it is.

Wise old warrior: I need your help, Fluke. She needs your help. I'm getting too old
for this sort of thing.

Young hero: I can't get involved! I've got work to do! It's not that I like the Imperium the way it is.. I hate it! But there's nothing I can do about it right now. It's such a long way from here.

Wise old warrior: That's your uncle talking.

Young hero: (sighing) Oh, God, my uncle. How am I ever going to explain
this?

Wise old warrior: Learn about the Force, Fluke.

LUKE: Look, I can take you as far as Delphi. You can get a transport there to Gushemege or wherever you're going.

Wise old warrior: You must do what you feel is right, of course.
