megatraveller compared to CT ?

I have never had any issue with CT rules TBH. I have MT corebooks and T4 but I always seem to go back to CT.

I like the simplicity and ease of use of CT and I like how easy it is to plug in a house rule or rule from another Traveller version.

And IMTU Imperial BD has intigrated grav-belts :p

Despite the admittedly copious amounts of errata, MT is still my favorite version of Traveller. Although it only edges out CT by a nose!

I loved the DGP task system from the minute I got my hands on a copy of Traveller's Digest. (Now if I could only get my hands on the 3 issues I'm missing without paying an arm and a leg.) The task system is far and away the best part of MT - how many other game systems can summarize all of the game mechanics that players are required to know on a single page?

Now, my favorite Traveller setting is still the CT Spinward Marches c.1107, but that's a different Cr0.02 ;)

Oddly enough, I use MT as a supplement to CT gaming.

Its Imperial Encyclopedia and Referee's Companion are excellent resources for CT.

Its basic chargen is a great, all-in-one-place drop-in replacement for basic CT chargen.

The task system is handy.

But I use CT for starships and combat.

There's a lesson there for the developers of T5!
Would that lesson be that nothing they publish will get the old CT players to switch from CT.

Well... many CT players won't switch. But then, CT works, has lots of resources, and is quite amenable to house ruling.

Case in point (to try to keep on topic): those MT books are great resources for CT referees and players.

The lesson I just learned from Lord Kalvan is that, if it presents the same feel in a better way, then elements of T5 could make good drop-in replacements for parts of other Traveller rulesets.

All that's left of pure CT for me is starship design. And it looks like T5 is going to have a fitting replacement. So I just might finally have an exit strategy.

So the next time I referee a game, it will probably be T5 rules with the classic adventures, and the above MegaTraveller books (and yes, even the MT CD-ROM) as reference material.

not much more to say on this subject than ... everyone seems right, hehe I liked MT because I liked the idea of a chaotic imperium for plot purposes.

The task system was really appreciated, I prefer it, I've never been a fan of any of the later traveller stuff... I drop my money into CT or MT all the time... the CT scenarios were a load of fun.
