Mega Fauna

I have recently decided to allow my players to discover an as yet unknown inhabited planet/human race but with a twist, they're Neaderthals. But when the Ancients moved them, they brought the whole habitat with them.

So, does anyone have d20 stats (or even easy converts) for any ice age mega fauna (as seen on Discovery Channel and Animal Planet)?

Try checking out the d20 SRD monster section: d20 SRD and then look up "dire" animals and dinosaurs.

You'll have to do a minimal conversion for T20 combat rules, but other threads on the boards have covered that.

I just looked in my GURPS Ice Age and it has a section on Beasties
. You may be able to use some thigns from there if you want, or it will at least give you some ideas for work in your world.
I should be able to get you some stats if you want.

You might want to check out a little D20 spinoff called "Broncosaurus Rex." The game world is sort of a mish-mash of Deadlands, Cadillacs and Dinos, Space 1889. They have a couple of different suppliments that features Dinos and prehistoric beasties.

The BBC did a series showing the animals that would have co-habited the world with Neaderthals and their ancestors (and another more recent series on our ancestors and cousins which showed that there were at least two other humanoid races including cro-magnon co-habiting at the same time) The beasts one was called walking with beasts and the latter was cavemen or some such... Sorry for being so vague.

Actually we created a Neaderthal race in Zeda in Dagudashaag for the UK fanzine called Signal GK a few years back and I know several write ups from the mag' were reprinted on several websites so you might find them.

Our Ziadd had striped skin which we hypothisised was 'native' to the race though the race was heavily modified in other areas by the Ancients and were very forthright.. more inclined to action and less inclined to think through consequences...

If you have no joy, contact me at signalgk@calderdale-online.org.uk and I'll email you the background etc. Please note I am in the process of building all the dagudashaag notes into a website so I don't want the files in the public domain.

I like this idea...a lone survivor of a wreck tries to "improve" their conditions in life and tries to elevate then by introducing higher TECH levels...throwing out all first contact rules!! :D

Jim, the natives have already been contaminated so you missed your chance! Of course, Coffee Juice would probably be a major improvement over the fermented jungle tuber juice they make in the back of the cave!

I like the stripes idea, maybe an adaptation to hunting in the jungle (like tigers)? Maybe the Ancients had to add it to the genome when their creations didn't do so good on their own.

Human skin is so bland, no wonder tribals paint as much of it as they can! BTW, do Aslan or Vargr come with stripes or spots?

Lest you forget the other elixir of the modern Navy, BUG JUICE! No ships sails without their coffee or bug juice. Sailors can't maintain their sugar high without bug juice.

Add boiler room fruit "juice" to that list while your at it! Made from raisins, bruised apples, potato peels, whatever is available. Often mixed with bug juice!
