Marc's confirmation email

Thanks guys.

I'm a bit apprehensive as I can't post on the kickstarter site and I'm not on as a "supporter" - since I ordered mine through email with Marc and he paypal invoiced me.

As a 100.00 supporter, I won't bother Marc until the 75.00 level folks start getting their emails. Could one of you be so kind as to let me know when that happens? Thanks

Got my confirmation email on Wed. Sent it back the same day.

Post office pretended to try to deliver a registered package today, but we either weren't home or they just put the pickup notice in the box.

I'll go pick up the package in the morning.

It's either Traveler 5, the film "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death", or my wife forgot she ordered something...

I'm hoping #1 or #2. Hope Marc Miller doesn't mind, but Shannon Tweed and Adrienne Barbeau stack up rather nicely against Traveler 5 on the "will really enjoy looking this over" scale.

I don't see a 75.00 level. In the kickstarter update Marc mentioned that he was having the 51.00 level sent out by robot labor and wouldn't affect the delivery of the other levels. It looks like the 100 and 150 levels are mostly all that's left at this point (or very close). Unfortunately that's the biggest batch, but should also be simpler to pack than the higher tiers (especially the 100 tier). Until he gets a decent way into this group it will be almost impossible to determine how long it will take to get through almost 1,600 orders.

Unfortunately we are left to wait and drool. At least there are some cool pictures and a really good video of the materials to help tide us over.

Bummer. It was a certified letter from my credit card company. An affadavit to sign about an attempted false charge on my cc awhile back.

No Traveller 5, no rolling vistas of Shannon Tweed and Adrienne Barbeau.

I consolled myself with getting season 1 of Game of Thrones...

I got my final copy of T5 on CD in the mail yesterday (was a beta dude). No pre-email saying it was in the mail or that it was shipped or that I was even getting one. But then me and Marc haven't talked to each other for nearly 30 years. :) I'm used to it.

He did say the 51 levels weren't being done by him, so it makes sense that he wouldn't verify the address first. Besides, shipping and cost of the CD is going to be A LOT less than the other packaging bundles.

Does anyone know how he's working the $150 level folks?

I ask because while I was excited by the ship notice, following it to my home, it was the CD alone. while it's fun to read it on my iPad, I haven't heard about the physical book yet.

Make sure you are checking Kickstarter!

Every day I come here hoping to see that someone in the $150 range has gotten their package. Soon, I keep telling myself :)

I'm at the 300 level. I got my address confirmation email on the 3rd of April, 10 days ago. No shipment confirmation email or package yet...

Some educated guesses, assumptions, and some math. Assuming everyone except for the $100 and $150 level has their shipment in the mail, or is close enough to count as finished, then 517 people have had their stuff shipped in about 20 days so far. This is about 25.85 shipments per day. Assuming the rate of shipments is about average (the higher end ones are much more complex, but the lower tier orders are more simple), then it will take 81 days total to get everything out, starting on 3/26. This comes out to around 6/15. This length of time seems to make sense when you consider:
1. Each address confirmation must be sent and a reply received with updates made as needed.
2. Every book must be signed.
3. Every box must be packed and double checked prior to shipment.
4. E-mails about any potential issues must be addressed.
5. One man has to do all this work.

I'm excited and impatient as well as I really want this book, but I have to give Marc credit, he is very responsive and obviously wants to ship a quality product. Remember, this Kickstarter exists only because he wanted to do Traveller5 right, not rushed.

That may be the case, but it is and has been Marc who has been setting the expectations as to when everything was going to ship. The implication that backers are impatient is annoying when we've been told...

"I expect to be shipping through March 31 (sort of a self -imposed goal)."

"We will begin shipping tomorrow March 26 Tuesday"

"My goal is to have everything shipped by April 15, but I am (alas) always over optimistic and may not achieve that goal."

I'm not bashing Marc or the process. But there's no reason to wag fingers at backers like we're bratty children. Again, our expectations were set by Marc himself.

As for "One man has to do all this work," if that is in fact the case, that is a choice. If you know that you're going to have to ship 1500 books, make sure you plan on using part of those funds to get help to do so, for your own sake. If nothing else, as part of a backup plan. There will be a lot of unhappy campers if, come June, we're still waiting.

mailing process and steps

David, Rynak, and Mechascorpio,

I laid out the steps required to do this shipping, number of resources dedicated and the minimal timeline to start moving forward based on the information provided. I provided this in another thread that was eventually closed down because of all of the complaining. That was about 1 month ago!

Let's not go through this again. SWAG, offering people options throughout the process, being accurate, and the mechanics of shipping take time.

In the meantime, this thread has play by play of the successes and more important some challenges Marc might be dealing with...

I don't get it. What does the debate over Nobles or that Beta CDs have gone out have to do with the dates Marc provided to KS backers about shipping?

Savage,

Perhaps my post could be taken wrong. My intent is to give a realistic timeline to help answer people's questions of where the shipments appear to be at and try to prevent the complaining that follows a lack of information. That also was the purpose of my last comment about Traveller5 not being rushed, but rather done right. Sorry if that ignites frustration, but I am trying to help here :) I also think David is also doing the right thing by posting information on where he is at in the process. Nothing is more irritating that the unknown, well, maybe that itch that I just can't seem to reach......

Over 5 weeks...

I'm not pointing fingers or suggesting frustration. Just getting back to the "email received" topic.

So, 5 weeks ago I mapped out the process for shipping something this complex. The new COTI members we're very frustrated.

I'd rather not see us start that whole discussion over again... please.

We had 6 threads dedicated to the new T5 rollout. Now we have 5. That says a lot.
