Lurent

The Lurent are a relatively recent addition to the Traveller Universe. I, for one, had never even heard of them until today, and I've been Travelling since 1978. In fact, when I first read your post, I assumed you were mistakenly referring to the Luriani.

That said, the Lurent appear to be a creation of Mongoose's Deneb Sector supplement (2012). The vast bulk of material written about the Spinward Marches predates that, and so nothing would appear in there about them.

There is a new Mongoose supplement, Behind the Claw (2019), which details both Deneb and Spinward Marches sectors. I don't have it, but I would bet dollars to donuts that the Lurent have been retconned into a few Marches worlds in that.

Of course, this should not be confused with the earlier GURPS Behind the Claw supplement, which is about a decade and a half older than the Mongoose version, and as such does not have anything at all on the Lurent in it (which I can guarantee to be so, because I have it).

If I read the Traveller Wiki correctly, longtime COTI member robject had a role in creating the Lurent; if he sees this post, he might jump in with further insight on how far they range outside of Deneb.

Tuglikki is under-documented in general, though I know someone has done work there.

As a "Minor Race", the Lurent will be most common within 10 hexes of their home. In the spinward direction, that's Pretoria (the system). Settlements beyond that are less likely, but their ships may certainly be found more widely.

Into Vargr space that includes most of the local non-aligned worlds to coreward up to Orruekhaer, with 11 worlds in Tuglikki and 27 in the non-aligned part of Deneb. Do they go there? Vargr space isn't as capricious as K'kree space can be, but it is more fluid. The Lurent may not be interested in spending the effort to be pirate chow. They were probably introduced to aliens via the Vargr, however, so they may be experienced enough with them to work in their space with success. They probably are found in the entire non-aligned region of Ogaeka and Ourrvikh and may have trade arrangements with the three Vargr states that border it. Sometimes. Because Vargr.

The Lurent are present in all 13 inhabited subsectors of the Deneb Sector...
...If we assume that the Zeng and Gulf entries are not outliers, that means that they get as far as Regina, Lanth, Lunion, Trins Veil in SM. Khouth and Ian in Corridor and Firgr, Kaeng, Uerrul, and almost to the Windhorn.
The 13 subsectors in Deneb average just under 20 vessels per subsector for 250 total. Assuming they halve in density per subsector distance, that gives a grand total of about 600-650 ships...60 in Lamas, 30 in the 9 adjacent ones, 15 in the 17 two away and 7 in those (less than 17) three away.
Those 250 ships are split across ~60 worlds. About 4 per world. 1 there; 1 at home; two in transit.
It would be interesting to see what the relationship between the Lurent and Vargr is...but I can't see it being consistently peaceful. And Lurent ships are big enough to mount spinal guns as turrets - even at TL-9.

Mongoose (1e) Deneb says about 250 ships total, and they move constantly. Their only home port is their home world, they just have really long routes. Each ship picks its own route, so there really isn't any need for outbound vs inbound differentiation. They just sort of go. The BTC write-up for Mongoose 2nd is missing details, but added corsair hunting to their activities.

Mongoose also decided to strip the Nenlat of Deneb of thousands of years of civilization for some reason...

So that makes even more sense if they are scattered about neighbouring sectors too! And 250 as an absolute total places most of them somewhere definite rather than somewhere vague and in transit.

To the extent that a typical Lurent ship spends months in systems and only a week between them, yes. None of them stay anywhere long enough to appear on the UWP, though. A Lurent ship is an event.
