Looking for a combat roll example

Shonner

SOC-14 1K
Can someone point me to the page in the TNE book that shows an example combat roll using a combat skill and an attribute for it?

AFAIK there was no such example in the TNE books I own. Any specific trouble with some rule? We used the TNE rules for about 10 years, perhaps I can help you?

It is a normal skill roll with the difficulty depending on range and if you aimed or are firing a snap shot. It is modified by recoil. You can get multiple attacks in one action depending of the rate of fire and burst become less effective with range. I'm busy at the moment but I can put up an example Sunday if you like and no-one has done so in the meantime.

If you want to give me some combatants and gear/weapons to use in the example just throw them up :)

Let's say a player has a gun skill of some kind and they shoot someone. Without any DMs, other than the gun skill (they're within range and no one is behind cover or armor), what does the combat roll look like?

"in range" is too vague.

It's always 1d20 for TN or less. Presuming aimed shot (rather than snap shot)

At short range, TN = 2*(Dex + Skill)
At medium range, TN = (Dex + Skill)
At Long Range TN = 0.5 * (Dex + Skill)
At Extreme Range, TN = 0.25 * (Dex + Skill)

Note that the specific distances vary by weapon, and are not Range Bands as used in other editions.

Ok. 1D20 <= DEX + Gun Skill

By "in range", I just meant there's no range DM or math applied. Does the defender get to add any dodge DM to this roll? Or do they do their own separate defense roll like in GURPS?

Neither, you rely on armour or you hug cover. If a location under cover is hit you get a bonus to your armour that might well negate any damage.

The only dm I remember is from recoil if too high, I'll check for more later. Otherwise you tend to adjust the difficult level rather than modify the dice roll.
