So, I am wondering, is a Knight of the Iridium Throne any different than a Soc B Knight? Just curious.

A different suffix?
Perhaps they get to put the suffix KT or KIT after their names as opposed to the traditional KE used by the more common Knight of the Empire.
Otherwise, Social Standing is still B and you are mostly treated as per other Soc B Knights, though when dealing with other Orders there may be a precedence to be followed.
Or at least that is how I would deal with it as a Referee.

I am looking forward to the increase in my geek cred when I show it to my group this weekend.
The way I understand it, all knights belong to an "order", or some group that makes it more specific what they were knighted for, like naval service, etc. This just means that you belong to the "Order of the Iridium Throne", most likely meaning that you are knighted by the Emperor himself, like those characters in the early DGP/TD adventures, instead of by a duke or archduke.(Quickly checks book by my computer) Oh yes, there it is, under "Knighthood, Orders of" in my Library Data book. All about them. Probably in the Imperial Encyclopedia too I'd guess. Nothing about the Order of the Iridium Throne though. :/
I like the orders idea. Each system might have its own. The MT Encyclopedia lists
Order of the Emperor's Guard (most common)
Order of Starship and Crown (2nd most common)
Order of Hlyuea (for loyal Aslan)
Order of Gvadakoung (for loyay Vargr)
Honorable Order of the Arrow (interstellar explorers)
Domain Orders: Antares, Vland, Sylea, Sol, Gateway, Deneb.
Makes sense to me that each career having Knighthood as a benefit might have an associated order (possibly several for merchants).

I recall reading somewhere (but I can't remember where) that knighthoods in the Order of the Iridium Throne are awarded to people that have acted directly for the intrests of the Emperor/ess and the Imperium.

Much like in the UK, where different departments have their own orders of Knighthood - e.g. the Treasury civil servants get knighthoods in the Order of St John
Scottish office in the Order of The Thistle
Foreign & Commonwealth is the Order of St Michael and St George*
So different orders for each branch would be nice
* This leads to the well known acronyms
Knight of St Michael and St George = KCMG = Kindly Call me God
Knight Commander of St Michael and St George = CMG = Call me God
Knight Grand Cross of St Michael and St George = GCMG = God Calls me God

I do as well. The card that addressed simply as "Sir So and So" and does not indicate an order, I have been assuming were KEG until I can figure out why I ended up with it ((in game terms)).
Unless we hear otherwise, although any of the orders listed can work.

Thanks that answered my question, trying to figure out why I didn't get one as I was a beta and Identified as such, but then all my patents but one were incorrect. and I was very nearly a winner of the low lottery as my package was sent on the second to last day.
Marc said he would redo/fix the patents in August and would have us resend our requests for fixes then. so I will wait til then to get it straight.
