The regency sourcebook details the domain of deneb (maps and UWPs) + details of the regency history from 1130s to 1201 as well as interactions between all the states and regency specific aliens / character backgrounds e.g. regency psions. It is an excellent reference. There is some mention of things happening outside the Regency but only to the extent they are mentioned in the history section and only if they affect the Regency.

I wish you would stop calling Mongoose Traveller the 5th eddition of the game, as that is just plain wrong.
