jump in jump experiment source

Does anyone remember where in the source material it mentions the jump number extension experiment where a ship was in jump space and a jump drive was activated inside it. I remember the experimental ship is "lost" It was short--perhaps a small paragraph, and despite my best efforts, I cannot find find it. Any photographic memory folks out there remember where it is? Thanks!

I don't remember anything official.

I came up with a jump multimplexer a while back that made a jump inside a jump. I think I made it 1% of the hull tonnage attached to the jump drive and no extra fuel. Should be able to reach 36 parsecs in one week with a jump-6 inside of a jump-6.

Jump theorists say I'm crazy, tho. All that time staring into JumpSpace...

I have never seen anything on this, but IMTU I'd treat it as a massive mis-jump with totally unpredictable results (mostly bad to horrible).

Never seen anything on this either but sounds like the theoretical foundations of the Hop drive to me (10-60 parsec jumps; see T5).

Nope, not the Hieronymus drive that MWM has mentioned for T5.

It was mentioned in a Challenge magazine, issue 33 Project Farstar.

This reminds me of Cordawainer Smith's Drunkboat; (text at Project Gutenberg Canada). It's hard to come up with a good OTU transposition of the story; this is the best I can think of using canon concepts.

Try it as a ship Jumping from inside a ship in Jumpspace.
Inner ship is 100Td, spherical, J6 but uses fuel from carrying vessel under drop tank rules, carried in a spherical cargo bay that's 201 x the diameter of the inner ship (so it's not inside Jump Limit of the hull containing it). The huge outer ship is also J6, using drop tanks.

Traveller canon doesn't have a viable analog to traversing 3rd-order Jumpspace naked through sheer force of will, and the aftereffects on Rambo, but one could probably handwave it as maxed-out psionics.
