Invasion: Earth Q&A

Some questions on the Invasion: Earth game.

Has anyone ever won playing the Imperial side?
If so, how did you do it?

Also, long time ago some one (I think) on the TML went through the counters for the Solomani and the Imperium and came up with what the unit designations ment. Does anyone have a hard copy of this, or know where to find it?

I have it sitting at home, have read it several times, but never played. :(

I'd love to setup and conduct an over e-mail game with someone, but it might be work intensive to manage (we'd both have to have boards setup) and keep in sync. And it'd be slow - maybe turn a week or 3 turns a month.

I always thought the Imperials looked like they had a tough job.

It is possible to win if you are the imperial side.

The imperial navy can usually sweep aside the solomani ships (if you split your ships correctly). The rules seem to indicate that your overwatch can fire at each SDB flight that breaks cover.

Dump an imperial base on the moon and use that as a marshalling area (with some ships protecting it)

The trick is to smash a hole in the planetary defences somewhere - pacific rim is good as grav units have trouble with the size of the pacific. Destroy the PD units with bombardment or troops until you have a clear area to land your troops without them coming under PD fire. Jump troops for the inital assault from cruisers etc. to save your troops transports. Move the cpature the port in Oz and then move west. It can be a bit of a grind, but solomani units will be spread out across the world and will tend to arrive in waves.

Cheers
Richard
