Imperial Navy Uniforms

Dealing with SolSec is a hot potato, and pretty much depends on the tack you want to take as to how the Confederation functions and what role you want SolSec to play within it.

There's the joke where a Balkan dictator commissioned a famous designer to create a uniform for his secret police. The result was beautiful and magnificent.

When a friend asked why the designer agreed to the request of the despised dictator and wasted his talent dressing the his hated henchmen, the designer replied so that everyone could see them coming.

There are a million of those sort of jokes in Russian... Some don't translate well, but the black humor is always there.

My take:

When looking for images, I use modern (i.e. post World War I dress) Navy uniforms from a variety of sources, to communicate these people are Navy.

Is it official? No, but it gets the message to the reader of what military branch the person is in. I'm using a photo of VADM John D. Bulkeley as a LT for the Captain of a patrol cruiser.
