Historical Striker?

jrients

SOC-11
Has anybody used Striker for historical simulations? I was fishing around for rules for recreating the Franco-Prussian War in 15mm when it struck me that Striker at TL5 might do the trick, assuming I wanted to do skirmish scale actions.

GDW also produced two other books using the same system. Over The Top for WWI and Combined Arms for modern day warfare. The books were part of the Command Decision series. I think there was a WWII rulebook as well but i don't know the name.

I used it for some "colonial era" engagements - Zulu wars, Boer war, even French Foreign Legion in North Africa.

It worked well enough for the small units being employed.

I have used Striker to game WWII and Cold War era games...

They worked great, especially for the WWII. I get the feeling that Frank kind of was thinking more WWII for the rules sometimes than he was thinking of Sci-Fi when he wrote the rules, as communication is relativel more difficult in the rules than it has proved to be via the current technology available...

:D That'll be command decision then. :D

Yes! I've found that striker can be used ,with almost any period. I've used striker in ww1 and ww2 situations (Oh, and that one time a bunch of PCs tried to overthrow the Imperium.)
