Hello

Hi everyone. I'm new to these boards (duh!) and new to Traveller, and I just wanted to stick my head in to say hello.

Some friends of mine talked me into playing Traveller because I am a big fan of the TV show "Firefly," as if you couldn't guess by my screen name.

We play the d20 version of Traveller because most of our gaming group was already familiar with d20. So far we've had a lot of fun getting into lots of trouble in the Gateway Sector. Boy, those K'kree are sure touchy about people who eat meat, aren't they? :D

So, I guess I'll be seeing you guys around.

welcome!

Havent played in gateway before (but then havent played much anyway)

Yes the centars are touchy but its probly got to do with how there sense of smell is so umm refined and that there vegatrians.

never seen firefly before so i would know about where your name comes from.

well agan welcome! :D

You should only see how cranky they get in another century or so!

Welcome! I'm more of a Classic (i.e. - "the real") Traveller or MegaTraveller chap, but there's plenty of room for T20 Scouts also. (You ARE a scout, aren't you?) Esp. since T20 has revitalized Traveller interest (and I'm eagerly anticipating the NEXT Traveller novel)!

Howdy Inara, welcome aboard--I also rather prefer Classic Traveller or New Era, but I LOVED "Firefly" as do the boys and girls in my crew. Cat says hey, too.

what they have novels now!?!
There was one really bad Traveller novel (Turned the Droyne into dragonewts or something), a Nihlistic Era one or two (at least one was unpublished), and then the current one from the good folks who brought us T20. Available (currently) only in pdf.

Is the pilot the wounded one the engineers were talking about?
Did they survive?

I'm assuming the name comes from that well-known interstellar merchant, Rufus T. Firefly. </font>[/QUOTE]Ah, I missed that the first time slyen2. Inara is a, what was the term... Companion? Yep, Companion, aboard the space ship Firefly from the short lived sci-fi series of the same name by Joss Whedon. Not that your guess was a bad one mormonyoyoman.

Naw, no need to go comms silent slyen2
Charted Space is big enough for all the systems. And if you have a fondness for CT then Firefly should be right up your flight path. Check out the reruns if you can catch them (sci-fi channel maybe) or the DVD's if prefer to have them in order and complete. And yes there was talk of a movie version of the series.

Oh, and if you missed it due to the new page of this thread scroll back for the answer to your previous query.

thx for the answers

cant watch for the same reason i never herad of it (havent have TV for last 6 years) but if i get the DVDs then i could but i dont get very much money at all if at all so it take me a while.

as for fondenss to CT its acctully the only version ive played in the last 7 years of me playing (and im only 16) although i would like to play others some are just to complicated for me (like NE).

and yes i do like D&D but unfortinatly its the only thing all the members of my group right now is willing to play.
(boo hoo no traveller).

really now that saves me some $40 of buying the book. but we did try playing Starwars (the wizards of the coast one bbut its not really wizards any more is it... Hasbro bought it out some years ago so... i dont know any more)

Thank you to everyone for making me feel welcome. This is such a nice, inviting community, not like some I've encountered on the Internet. ;)

And such interesting Graemlins they have here. I can't wait to try them all out.
