As always with Traveller, character creation is complex in T5, which I absolutely love. Even with the errata, though, a few of the careers are very... unusual to roll up. I wanted to ask if anyone had any examples of rolling, say, an Entertainer, a Craftsman, or a Noble.
For Entertainer, you roll a characteristic check to enter, but then it just talks about "Determine Fame for the Term", which sounds like it's just a 2D roll to determine where you start off. Following terms appear to be just flux rolls, though, and maybe Talent levels? I'm not seeing how the character really develops. I think I'm struggling because it's very different from rolling a Marine or Spacer class, even though variety is the spice of Traveller life.
For Craftsman, it sounds like Risk & Reward rolls are rolled with Creation rolls, which grants Master Points, but I'm not sure what the "Up to FIVE Skills at Skill-6 +" is supposed to mean - only skills at level 6 or above apply, or under? And it would have been nice if we had an example QREBS roll here.
Nobles on the surface appear to be somewhat self-explanatory, but as I look at it, it's easy to get lost. Return & Intrigue are again like Risk & Reward, but the way the paragraph starts, it almost eludes to starting in exile, which doesn't make any sense. I interpret the steps as a characteristic roll, fail pushes them to exile where they stay until next term, allowing them to roll Return from Exile. While out of Exile, the character rolls for Elevation (but this step is not listed in the A-Noble table, so again I assume it happens after Return/Intrigue), and it is Mod + Intrigues? Just seems like there's lines missing here is all.
Sorry for all the questions from a newbie on the COTI forums, but I just got my KS T5 book and I'm preparing to start a campaign with it if I can figure out how all the puzzle pieces go together.
