Hard Times --the sourcebook

It doesn't matter if the book is out of print or not... it's still copyrighted material and remains so until 75 years after the author's death. Nor does it matter if "no money changes hands." One can infringe without making money on the copy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought it was 50 years.
==============================================
It was. It was extended by the Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Act in 1998 and recently upheld by the US S. Ct.

Sonny Bono was not only a noted enviromentalist but also interested in copyright matters....

The sole purpose of which was to prevent Mickey Mouse from going public domain on schedule this year. This from our friends at the same company that made a fortune on a release of Jungle Book six months after the work went into public domain.

one of the very few RPG books i've got that was more than worth its weight in gold. the pregravetic design stuff is worth it alone. the adventure, now that i like almost pure evil, but ya can make a difference. Tis not earth shattering the difference either, realistic really. I loved it, well worth getting..

Just want a copy of COAAC cus its either that or design my own aircraft design system..

At this point, anything currently under copyright will never pass into the public domain. That's right: never.

Just watch Micky Mouse. The moment that Steamboat Willy is about to pass into the public domain, they will extend it again.

Back to Hard Times.

It is a very good resource. But, be aware that it is quite dark. The adventure is centered around a small pocket empire that is doomed to failure. Regardless of the immediate success of the players, the pocket empire is (pretty much by rule) guaranteed to fail within a decade or so.

Actually, they don't need to, as the Bono Act allows for recopywriting by releasing an "Updated version" which is substantially the same, but has been reedited or had additional material added.

$&#**^% Disney.

HT is available from DTRPG...
