GT to CT conversions

Hi GURPies

A quick question, please.

Question: What the heck is the Classic Era equivalent of GTL10 and GTL11?

For example, I'm looking at a GURPs ship that is a Solomani Confederation ship GTL10. What would be its corresponding TL if I were to use this same ship in the Strephon-Era 1107 Confederation? TL 12? TL13?

According to pg. 107 of the GT mainbook, GTL10 is a range between CTL12 (Classic Tech Level) and CTL13, and GTL11 is the same as CTL 14. So you'll probably have to pick either Classic Era 12 or 13 for your ship.

I despise the differing TLs from Gurps to CT.

Come on! Gurps TL-9 is equal to CT TL-9 to TL-11!

I have a post-it in mine and look that up far to often for my own good...

Much of the rest of the Gurps material I like.

I disagree with the tech level conversions listed in the GURPS Traveller book. On my website I have a table that I believe translates the tech levels better including a link to the Freelance Traveller website where Anthony Jackson does the same with his much better explanation as to why. Maybe you'll find it interesting and/or helpful.

My general modification is:
GTL-9 and less is unchanged.
GTL-10 is TTL-12 to TTL-14
GTL-11 is TTL-15 to TTL-17
GTL-12 is TTL-18+

The main points are:
- The Imperium is fundamentally GTL 10 with small patches of GTL 11.
- TTL 16 does not qualify for the "magic" of GTL 13. As a matter of fact, only Ancient quality TTL 20+ should qualify for GTL 13.

That all said, I can live with Sean's easier to use chart which, simply put, simply says that the Imperium is GTL 10. (Or less, of course
