OTU Only: Fringe Sector Names

When I look at the names of the sectors of Charted Space on www.travellermap.com, most of the sector names match what I can find in various sources. (I have almost all of the CT/MT/TNE/T4/GT sources, plus lots of fanzines.) The majority of the sector names show up on the maps in the CT Alien Modules. There are about 30 sectors, all of them around the edges of Charted Space, that I can't find names for in any of my sources (though admittedly it's a lot of stuff to go through).

For example, the Mavuzog sector (1 sector rimward of Chiepl Zhez, and 1 sector spinward of Theta Borealis) and every sector rimward of that one. I can find several places on the internet where those sectors are given a name, but I can't find them in any source books.

Am I blind and missed them? Am I missing a source that names them all? Did Marc name these sectors? Were these names generated by HIWG back in the day? Did someone decide they needed a name and give it to them, and that name stuck? Is there is a source for these names?

Other sectors include

Finggvakhou and every sector trailing of it
Rfigh and every sector trailing of it
Kolire and every sector rimward of it
Wrence and every sector trailing of it
Amderstun and every sector spinward of it except for Eose'o for which I found the name Ahriman in one of the GT source books (but not Eose'o)

In lieu of having time to research a real answer I'm gonna go with "HIWG". You probably have as many sources as I do if not more. I don't have any secret sources, either.

What's your source for Ahriman? I'd love to make that correction.

Ahriman is from GURPS Traveller: Alien Races 2, in the Inyx write up. It's a pretty oblique reference and only occurs once, I think. But it's the only published name that I know of. See the discussion here:

Hah, yes, I actually had all of those HIWG-generated sector names tagged as such in my sector catalog file:

... which trace back to Steve Bonneville's list.

The line in GT:AR2 is:

The Inyx directly control Matrix (their homeworld) and some 17 systems in Ahriman sector (one sector Rimward of Iyiyukhtoi'/Banners), ...

It later misspells Teahloarifu as Tahloarifu.

Anyway, while the Inyx might not survive the T5 Sophont Review, I'll promote Ahriman as the primary sector name for now.

Thanks, that explains it. All of the ones I questioned are listed in parens in the file you referenced, and a note in the file reads:

Names from unpublished sources (HIWG) are enclosed in parentheses: () This includes "old Vargr sector names" from HIWG. Essentially, take anything in parentheses with a grain of salt.

I can stop tearing my hear out now.
